  10. Great shave this morning. Doing the 30 day focus on improving my lathers. I of course must still follow Williams Wednesday. Great shave and I even used the Original Stetson original today.

    Razor - '46-'47 Gillette Aristrocrat
    Blade - [IMG] (2)
    Soap - Stirling Iced Coffee
    Brush - Jayaruh #54
    Post - Alum

Shave number two on this decadent setup. The Aristocrat and Voskhod - always a great combination since I first put them together in January 2015. You certainly can't go wrong with a Jayaruh brush and #54 looks as good as it performs. Stirling Iced Coffee? Unbelievably decadent both in performance and in scent. Can't wait until he puts this one back in production. Yes, Rod, I know you need to reformulate it a bit so I'll be patient, but man is it a good one.

Two passes and touch ups and no blood. Just baby butt smooth. The scar from the pain stick is slowly healing. Caught it just a tad tonight but no blood at all. Just have to keep working around it until it's finally healed up. One of my better efforts that one.

Day off tomorrow starts with doctor visit, then a bank visit, then a day of waiting on Amazon packages to show up. My wife has been on a shopping spree for things for the new car, new things for the apartment, and I have been on a spree for new phones and a few other goodies. Friday should be Stirling day as our package shipped from there today. It's almost like it's the holidays or something! Have a great Thursday everyone!

Preshave: Shower with Ivory Soap; facial scrub with St. Ives Apricot Scrub
Razor: Schick Slim Twin (set to non-pivot)
Blade Cartridge: Schick Slim Twin Plus (3rd shave)
    Cream: Gillette Foamy Lemon-Lime
    Brush: Razorock Snowman
After Shave Lotion: 50/50 blend: Barbasol Brisk/Wrangler
Beverage: Folgers Black Silk coffee (black)

In the spirit of Decadent December, I acquired my old favorite cartridge system razor from back in the late '80s and early '90s: the Schick Slim Twin, for use as my travel razor. Of course, I had to try it, in the interest of quality control, before travelling. Was it as good as I remembered?

Well, not exactly. Perhaps the blades oxidized or some other change occurred in the twenty-some years since my Slim Twin blades were made. More likely, my face and beard has changed since 1991. I remember the Slim Twin as being wicked sharp and ultra smooth. They're still just as smooth as I remember, but needed a little pressure on the handle and a few extra passes to efficiently mow down whiskers. On the plus side, shaves with the Slim Twin have really held up well before stubble becomes noticeable; yesterday's Slim Twin shave using Razorrock Essential Oil of Lime soap was especially close and long-lasting; I could've probably skipped today's shave.

The star of the show here, undoubtedly, is my new Razorock Snowman. It's just the perfect size and shape, has the perfect stiffness, feels absolutely luxurious, and is a marvel of efficiency when it comes to making and applying lather. In something of a hurry today, I dispensed a dollop of Foamy Lemon-Lime into my shaving bowl, then applied it with the soaked/shaken-out Snowman. I absolutely love the fragrance of Foamy LL and application with the Snowman seems to intensify the LL goodness. In fact, the delightful aroma lingered around the washroom until I left for the day's business at hand.
