Set it on the bedside table, but don't call attention until you have your shoes on & standing near the doorway.

No worries Neal. Decadence lasts all month. Rinse & repeat!

Jason, I had no idea you were on the Instigation Committee!

My four kids passed down a pair of "bear" feet until they wore them out.

Aaron - Take you photos when it's comfortable for you. I tried to include bowls of yogurty lather for a while. I found it distracted from my shave cadence to interrupt the process. Now I do my shave, dry the gear, then take pictures. Several members never have a wet brush in their photos because they plan a week ahead and get the pictures ready. There's no "right" way. Just your way.

    Documentation! Step by step instruction!!
    If you don't mind Patrick!!!

I have to be careful here. Beaver fur? It's been scarce since Larry Flint set the standard. I miss the '70's.

Sorry for the late reply I’m still catching up. Mountain rain has a really nice scent, the main notes I pick up on with the soap is floral, and melon. There’s another note that I’m not sure exactly what it is, but I really enjoy using it.

Welcome to The 30 Day Crew @drnausheerp! If I missed your entrance prior to today, apologies. We've had busy times around here lately. One of the Rules about this group - Everyone's equipment is good, unless it's damaged. The monthly theme of Decadence is our chance to enjoy our favorites after Adjustables in August, Single Edge in September, Open Combs in October, and last month that split between those doing a No Variation & others on a No Repeat November. So if you are interested in developing your skills we never stop discussing Technique. I recall your thread about having difficulty finding any but ARKO on your store shelves. Shipping to U.A.E. must be like everywhere else - jacks up the cost of what ought to be inexpensive soap. So use what you have, be loud and proud - you are a member of The 30 DC!

Some great looking shaves today, gentlemen! It is a no shave day for me as I had a minor procedure done this morning (nothing to really mention, but it kept me home from work).

I did get a little bonus today, as I received a tub of Grooming Dept Chypre Conifere by mistake the other day. I sent Mohammad at Grooming Dept an email asking me what he would like to do as I didn't have a return address for him. This morning he sent back an email saying to keep it, which was an added bonus. It's funny, I get mail by mistake faster than I get packages I have actually ordered.

    DECember - A weeks Rule!

    Truefitt & Hill SS
    Omega 98 boar
    Suribachi bowl
    E-4 Gillette on 5
    Kai stainless blade
    Clubman W.W. AS
SOTD 12072018.gif With the option of scrolling back 200 post or risking a duplicate, here's this afternoon's shave report only three hours later. Hit the T&H soap one more time with an Omega Pro 10098 boar knot in it's original handle. Oldest SOTD photo I have with this brush is from over three years ago. It's still a great brush at less than $13. Got my best lathers this passed week from boar bristles. Kept the Fat Boy on 5 for this last use of the Japanese blade. WTG & ATG, a half dose of cleanup fiddling netted Close and Comfortable. I had more AS left in the plastic bottle than needed for my face and I wanted to more the label. So I splashed it on twice, ran my hands through what's left of my hair, and had a sprinkle for my chest. If that was Clubman Special Reserve I'd have ladies in Texas (just 27 miles away) sniffing me. This newest release from Pinaud has the alcohol but is light on scent. I can barely smell me now. Next shave will be different soap and razor. I'll see if I can stick with the Aristocrat for a weeks service. Also want to revisit that Proraso Sandalwood setup.
    Good Shaves Y'all!

I have decided to just go all out for the rest of the shaves this month. I have the option of taking a later shift, so I will be able to take my time, and enjoy my shaves.
I will take a photo before the shave, no difference really in the routine, just a slight modification of things.
I think 1 of 2 things is happening, either I'm just not starting out with enough soap, or my badger brush just isn't up to snuff.
I will try loading more soap this week, then next week change use anything except Badgers to see what happens.
Thanks for playing along with me guys!

You'll get it figured out. I will say that sometimes we don't load as much soap as we think we are. As a few of them around here will tell you - load it like it owes you money. Just beat it down.

    Well Friday is over, almost.
Hope every one is fine and doing well.
    20181207_225146.jpg
A long day to say the least, but it started out great.
The morning shave went better than expected. I concentrated more on the job at hand and got a wonderful 3x3 shave. No issues!
More than half way through the 30 day focus and things are going great.
The soap is working well, the brush is great and the razor is more than I ever expected from that hunk of metal.
I'm telling ya, the shave on the head is phenomenal. My face is smooth and clean when I'm finished shaving.
Even when things don't go just right, I'm still smooth walking out of the bathroom. The wiskers just stay away longer than I've ever had happen.
So if you want to get a really close shave, try the Muhle R41 with a new feather blade combo I use. I have done a 3 pass shave for 19 days strait not missing a single day. Might take some time getting your technique down. Give it 30 days, got 19 days in and counting.
Hey! If I can do it, anybody who wants to can do this!
All it takes is a little focus.
Well, time for bed, mornings come early round here.
    Thanks
    tp

    Decadent December!!

    December 7, 2018

Razor - 1918 Gillette Old Type
    Blade - treet-dura-sharp.jpg (1)
    Soap - Truefitt & Hill 1805
Brush - Vie Long 12601 The Pony
    Post - Alum

First things first - apologies for the crappy picture tonight. The camera let me down, meaning I screwed it up I'm sure. But you get the idea at least.

Time to switch it up after last night's almost too good to be true decadent shave. How about we go old school. "OG" Decadent. Yeah, that's the term. My oldest razor, the 1918 Gillette OT that was issued to a soldier back in the day. I need an old time soap. Well, T&H has been in business since 1805 so I'll use their 1805 soap that is named in honor of their first year in business. The brush? The Pony, of course. Horse hair brushes are as OG as it gets. And the blade? Gotta be carbon. So the Treet Dura-Sharp. I wanted a Black Beauty from Treet but don't have one so the Dura-Sharp is the next best in line.

I had a couple of concerns about this shave. Well, one mainly. The scar from the pain stick is still lingering. Taking the 1918 and a carbon blade across it could be a bit risky. Angle and pressure control are not an option. They have to be perfect. So, I lathered up the 1805 and enjoyed its rather unique scent. I also admired its slickness. I guess it knew I needed help.

I was able to get a near BBS on the first pass. Wow was that ever fun. No blood on the cut, nice smooth feel to the blade and I nearly stopped after one pass, in honor of those old-timers who would kick our butts for doing more. But, I wanted to keep going so I went for a second pass. Still smooth, still really comfy and the baby came into the room and demanded I stop. Who am I to argue with a happy baby?

What a fun OG shave tonight. Looking forward to a couple more. Decadence from the past. A great way to end the day.
