1979-81, I remember buying the Menthol Williams around this time when I first started shaving. It lathers well.

Kinda sucks that Beecham took out the Tallow on this one...
Not quite. You can see in the last photo that it was made when Beecham, Pa. owned Williams, that was between 1983-91. You can find these dates in public Copy Right and Patent records.

Also the Menthol version was for sure offered by Williams under the Nabisco ownership as early, or earlier than 1976, evident by the Menthol Bicentennial offerings. Possibly even offered by Williams Toiletries sometime between 1960-1971.

I can't speak to the production years, but the first ingredient is Sodium Tallowate. That would make it the second formulation of the soap. First was Tallow, third was Potassium Stearate as first ingredients.

I can see why some folks might want to mix a little Williams in with their soaps that don't cut it...to try and save an inferior soap.

    BUT!!!

Life is short...Why no just use unadulterated Williams and enjoy!!!

Have you tried it with soaking your brush in warmed bottled water. Just to see?

Would be worth it, if you fell in Love with it!

it is good that williams has its staunch advocates. i used the modern for 10 years with a wilkinson brush..did the job..at present i have more toys in the toybox..including 5+ pucks of williams..even if its not favored it should never be excluded..an icon shaving product for many generations of wet shavers...

Just bloom it like any other type of Williams. Just because it is Menthol doesn't mean anything. Bloom it and go to town.

I live in NY and the water is hard, but I can get a decent lather with Williams. I cover the entire puck with water and let soak for 5 minutes. Pour off the excess and use a synthetic brush with a backbone and whip away. Now, if you want to make it more luxurious, then use Noxema Classic cleansing cream as a pre-shave. Leave it on and then brush on the Williams to get a nice lather. Problem solved!

Are you trying to get a brick tossed at you? Fuzzy has them stealth bricks now.
    That's an understatement.....

If the brick is made out of shave soap, then bring it!
