    SUNDAY'S SHAVE

Shower Soap - Early American Old Spice matching Bar Soap circa 1930's
    [IMG]
Razor - Gillette Superspeed (circa 1947-1952) (Re-plated in Nickel Finish by Razor Emporium)
    Blade - [IMG] *4th shave
Shave Brush - Vigshaving Nylon Synthetic
Shave Soap - Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements - Cold Spices
Aftershave - Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements - Cold Spices
Deodorant - Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements - Cold Spices
Fragrance - Vintage Shulton - Early American Old Spice circa 1930's

I've found that PAA's Cold Spices pair extreeeemly well with the antique 1938 Early American Old Spice fragrance. If Douglas Smythe happens to see this, he should feel honored that I paired his product with this antique perfume. I'm going to include a few dabs of the original talc powder of this scent for a full barbershop effect. I will not be using the bubble bath this time around as it's very limited in the amount, very rare to find and it's only going to be a special occasion usage from now on. Happy shaves to all.

If you don't know what Early American Old Spice smells like. Imagine Shulton Old Spice, then add what smells like Ambergris and a very light touch or lemon or bergamot (which is basically giving it a classy, upscale vibe. It smells like Old Spice-gone-'niche-upscale'. Sort of what Creed's Spice & Wood's classy vibe is like, but with the unmistakable Old Spice base.

I have said this before on Basenotes forum and I'll say it again here. I cannot believe Early American Old Spice isn't a top collectable among fragrance collectors and enthusiasts. It should be going for $400+ for a 2 ounce bottle of the juice. I think it's a crime that a fragrance this historic and this classy is fetching such a low price on ebay. I happened to get my hands on a perfectly preserved bottle and it's a special scent.

The soap on the other hand, has aged, and it has taken 5 or so baths/showers to get down to a layer that has a well-preserved essence of what it once was. So, if you buy any of the soap bars, you'll need to work off many layers before the soap smells like it once did.

***EDIT - 10/10 shave. BBS, no irritation. For me, it seems like talc powder relieves/prevents redness/irritation on my neck. I saw what seemed like a few small patches of my neck around my Adam's apple start to look red. The talc powder seemed to take care of it within a few hours and now my neck looks perfect. My balms/lotions/alum never accomplish this but the talc did.

Nice shave, Jeff. You have quite a few South African shave products. What's your connection to that country?

    Thanks so much!

I actually have visited South Africa twice because we have relatives living in Johannesburg, Benoni, and Bloemfontein. Last year around this time I joined the Master Shave group which is South African and I became good friends with a bunch of guys there right away, including two vendors. Their soaps are absolutely fantastic.

Thank you for that. I have never been to that continent. I would definitely be interested in visiting South Africa.

Many Israelis go there on vacation. South Africa and Israel have very warm relations.

    SHAVE OF THE DAY
    20181208_111915.jpg

Prep: Mickey Lee Sandalwood Pre Shave Butter
    Razor: Orange Wilkinson
    Blade: Wilkinson Sword
    Brush: Maggard 24mm Synthetic
    Soap: Kell's Original- Dragon's Blood
Post: Reef Point- Dragon's Blood Balm

Haven't used Kell's Ornginal in a long time. It is one i picked up when i first started wet shaving. The scent is almost a dead match with the Reef Point Dragon's Blood. Sad RP is no longer in business as their balms are supurb. Did a swell job soothing down the bright red skin.

As far as the shave goes, did get quite a lot of irritation on the neck despite this razor being super mild. Really like this cheap plastic Wilkinson razor so far. The head pivots on a hinge and is pretty cool and unique. Snagged 3 of them in the box for around $10 shipped, for about $3 a piece or so this razor has surpassed my expectations. Plus the colors are cool IMO.

Hope everyone is doing well and getting the best shaves possible!

I was trying to go with the "Sunday Funday" theme. I also like to have a little fun with that soap. I actually am not a big fan of the little stool, but my wife likes it. Just something different then towels for a change.
