Continuing with the second "decadence of the past" shave using the 1918 OT and Treet carbon blade. I went with another "old timer" soap. It's been in production since 1893 sand it's a true classic. Mitchell's Wool Fat, or "the Fat" as we often call it. Still in my top two soaps, currently competing with Stirling Sheep for the honor of being number one. I chose my most basic boar brush to keep it authentic to natural brushes from the past. The Semogue 620 loaded quickly and easily and produced a fine lather.
I couldn't quite remember yesterday why I had "dinged" the Treet Dura Sharp blade and ranked it lower than the Treet Double Edge "Black Beauty". Well, I remembered tonight. The Dura Sharp gave a fine shave last night. Quite excellent, really. And, I'd like to report that it followed up with the same tonight. That, however, would be a lie. A bit on the rough side in spite of being kept out of the razor in its wrapper since last night and no sign of any rust at all. Seems like the edge just goes away faster. And, it caught me twice with small nicks. A little blood, nothing major, but the finish was DFS. Not the same experience as day one. I'm debating whether or not to choose a different carbon for the finale of this mini-theme tomorrow night. We'll see how brave I am tomorrow.
Hope your Saturday was a great one! I'm a bit behind with some special packages arriving today......Stirling order (mostly for my wife but I snuck some soap and a brush in) and my Secret Santa package arrived today!!! Gonna go post it up over there next and then later I'll share it here too for those who don't see it over there. I'm happy. Very happy. Santa rocks.
