Hey there kids. I gotta give props to the old man Rolls. His blade stropping technique is really working. I'm doing the night shave currently since I'm working days. Tonight I shaved w/ TBS and the third time w/ a 7 o'clock black. I've gotta say this blade impresses me. Even w/out stropping I can tell it's one of the better blades I've used. But the stropping is definitely extending the life. So much so that I'm going to go for an unheard of fourth shave on this blade. My face is smoothy smooth w/ no burn or irritation tonight. I could not even claim that using the Red IP's which I also can manage three shaves with but #3 being kind of rough. Finished off w/ a splash of cucumber Thayers and a hit of SCS Med Citrus. Right as rain I'm tellin' ya.

So a big plus 1 on the 7'o blacks and DE blade stropping. The old coot gets to take 10 bucks out of petty cash and buy whatever he wants! And oh yeah, the TSD store is now carrying 7'o blacks. Once I finally throw this one away I'll try the Astras Dom. Ok kiddies. Up at 5a so off to bed now. Had to fill you all in on the strop before I do though.

tried stropping a Feather last night, worked rather well, got a 5th shave out of it.
Tried it with a Swede just a bit ago, 4th shave...not so great. Of course, I've only had one good shave out of about 15 with Swedes, so they're not one of my favorites anyway.
I have to do the palm-stropping method...hairy arms don't make for good strops :ashamed001

I may have to check them out, then. Are they cold process? I've just started getting away from supermarket brand detergent bars and into small/homemade/natural soaps. I had an Issy's Bamboo & Teak that I liked, and just got a Dr. Bronner's Almond that I absolutely love. The scent is a bit weak (it seems unscented to me) but the lather is phenomenal.

I told you the blacks were awesome. I've been doing the stropping, too, but haven't noticed any difference...

Undetermined as of yet, but so far it's close between the Astra Superior and the 7 O'Clock Super Platinum (black)

Have you tried the Super Platinums yet, Jim?

Today starts day 1 of....yes.....another 12 day off stretch. Boy do I love my schedule And I'm only using 4 Vacation days to boot!
