Decadent shave today, for sure. I agree with you on the DRH cream. I also find alternatives that are just as good for less money. CL is on my radar based on all the great things I've heard about it. I'd like to actually finish a bottle of AS before I pick up another one. Safe travels this evening to Vancouver.

I always try to hit the minimum order quantity to get free shipping from on-line vendors. It's $60 on IB. I wouldn't mind picking up 400 Feathers on an order if I needed to stock up.

Dad cheats on his seafood gumbo - a frozen bag of mixed seafood from Walmart. Got to sort the imitation crab out, but the clams, oysters, squid and octopus do a dark meat chicken gumbo proud. He taught me to make boudin (pork, liver, & rice sausage) so I shared my sushi skills. Mom just rolls her eyes and insists we clean up our own mess.

On a lighter note

I've been getting my Feathers & Astra SP from a local pharmacy. Might be down to less than 50 assorted blades in my stash. I know if I buy 100 Feathers I'll use them.

 

Man oh man, that's a pretty set. No wonder these sets are in such high demand at auction.

John, I have really enjoyed following your posts on vintage Gillettes. They have been very informative. Thanks for taking the time to educate us.

 

I'm guilty of adding to my order to get free shipping myself. I'll spend an extra twenty or thirty dollars to save five dollars on shipping.

Wow, I'm learning tonnes from you these past few months, John. I didn't know there were Tuckaway handles used on anything other than New Improveds. Besides the flat bottom to the base plate, are there any other geometric differences between the NEW Deluxe head and a standard NEW? The top part of the baseplate, with the channel, look identical.

My impression of the New Deluxe head is that it seems to be in a strange spot between the New LC and New SC. I think I need to defer to the more experienced members of the crew as to the real differences.

I know that @NCoxSTL has a haunted New Deluxe. Maybe he has some thoughts...
