    NCoxSTL AAACK!

Thanks guys. Given how much I have learned about technique, and how much I preach it (I'll pass the plate a little later) I always go into a shave with a new razor with a keen desire to nail it down. Especially on a razor with the reputation of this one. I remember seeing some of the "old timers" using some pretty awesome and fearsome razors when I first started out and wondering how in the world they could use them so easily. So, I guess as a "new old timer" I figure I should help inspire some newbie in the same way.

I think on the R41 the main difference to me is the weight. I'm sure I have another razor or two that weigh close to the same but every razor has its own balance. This thing just feels like a brick. Anybody who adds pressure is asking to bleed. The angle wasn't hard to find as it is also quite noisy. Feel and hear the razor doing its thing while you let the weight handle it all and it provides one fine shave. No doubt about that.

I'm still on the lookout for a 2011 model as those are said to be more aggressive than the 2013.

Now I see what I have been missing!
A certain member here sent me this brush, and I am blown away by the performance. I know know the difference between the cheap badger and the not as cheap badger!

Finishing off a shave with a Jeeves splash is always quite nice!
Very nice Rick. Hope you get that cold going on its way out!
Hopefully a nice shave has you feeling better, John!
    Nice shave, Gary!
Sorry for the rough start to the day, Clint. At least the shave finished smoothly and it is Friday!
I enjoy seeing your signature Friday setup, Perry.
Wow, that is a beautiful beehive, Mark!
Wow, having both girls at home for holidays! I bet you will all have a great time!
    Awesome photo, Jim!
Nice shot, Danny! I especially like the way you colored in the "Rockwell" stamp on your razor!
Beautiful brush, Josheph! I am really surprised to see such a high end product performing so poorly.
MMM, Gentlemen! I hope it helps the day go by quickly so you can get back home to your bride.
    Fantastic setup Charlie!

Terrific, Aaron! There are many folks here in the 30DC who will go above and beyond to help out and send you gear. That's a cool brush! Ever Ready? Glad you have it and that it worked so well for you.

When I said I had something "In the works" earlier this month it caught a lot of peoples attention. Well now they can all quit wondering because what I had "in the works" was PIFing this brush to you Aaron. I'm glad you enjoyed your first outing with it!

Thanks Andrew! I prefer to avoid taking meds as they seem to make the ick linger longer. Not being able to breathe through my nose makes it difficult to sleep. Now it's all about avoiding the other bug the twins brought home from school.

Good job on hooking up Aaron @ordinaryshaver with a better badger! Vintage handles are cool. What knot is it?

Thanks for the kind words. The "Rockwell" stamp was begging for some color. To me it gives the razor a finished look. After all....shaving is about having fun.

No worries, Perry. Glad I didn't pay retail.

That's a difference I learned early on too. The last time I tried using my cheapest badger I ended up tossing it into a drawer where I hope the brush fairies will take it away. Floppy and useless when compared to a better quality. I have to wonder how many people give up on shaving because of lather problems because they bought the cheapest thing online to get started. We have to keep telling people - you don't have to spend a fortune but get stuff that works! Then you can master this shaving thing. Faulty or defective gear = bad shaves and bad moods.

Easy smooth shave with the Aristocrat. Enlisted the help of The Soap Destroyer to take a bite out of the remaining frankensoap. The Cella portion of it is now gone and there are a couple spots where the bottom of the tin is showing through, but there is still probably a dozen shaves left in it. Have a great weekend my friends!
