Friday! It couldn't come soon enough for me this week. No I don't want to wish my life away, just wanted a break. Seems like I got behind on reading the post on this thread.
Sorry, I'll try to catch up if I have a chance. But at over 100 posts a day! whew, a lot going on.
Now on to one of the importaint stuff of the day, the mornings shave. ;)

With just a few days left in my 30DF, I feel like I can use the Muhle R41 as easy as any other razor. I did another 3x3 shave this morning with no issues or problems. The razor floats across my skin like any other razor. I am concerned that after using the R41, that will make the other razors hard to use now?
I will find out if it changed the muscle memory I have with the other razors.
So not much to report, other than I had a nice, close and smooth shave.
    Top 10 or better.
The weekend will give me a little more time to, enjoy the work to be done.:)
    To all
    Have a fine evening.

Very well done with the Muhle. I think you'll find that switching to another razor will be relatively simple. You may have a one or two shave adjustment to make as you adapt to the unique pressure and angle required, but the basic motion and skill is the same. Master one and you can master them all! Enjoy your weekend!

Friday evening December 14 - Fat Friday

    Simpson's CH2 Chubby Synthetic Bristles
    Kent/MWF In beechwood tub
    Alum and Clubman VIBR

Having said yesterday that I would use my Fendrihan sample until it was done, today I switched to Mitchell's, because Fat Friday. I used my patented super secret process to get a great lather from The Fat - I applied a damp brush to the dry puck and swirled said brush until it was loaded to the gills with soap and lather was flowing over the edges of the tub. I then applied the loaded brush to my wet face and face lathered. This super secret Fat lathering process, btw, is identical to the one I use with every other soap...

Today's razor was in rough shape when I got it. It was so badly gummed up that the TTO mechanism wouldn't turn at all. Multiple trips through the ultrasonic cleaner interspersed with soaks in dishwater loosened it up. However, it was still sticky on opening to load today, so after my shave, I dumped it back into a bowl of Dawn and hot water for further meditation.

My shave today wasn't as close as normal. I did my usual two passes, still felt stubble on my jawline, so added a third pass along my jaw and neck. Even so, checking now after my shave, I notice a couple patches I still missed. I think this particular razor is just not doing it for me...

I haven't used my Clubman VIBR in awhile, so I visited the Islands to finish off the shave and the evening.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

I had some issues with a razor like you are having. I put a little WD40 down the top and bottom then worked the device till it loosened up. It worked great and washed off after I got it going. Don't know if thays the right thing to do, but it worked for me.
    Enjoy your razor! :happy088:

We all live and learn, Neal. Good on you for going to see your doctors and following their advice. I've got a few war stories too, so I guess we have something to talk about at the next meetup. It looks like we both need to eat healthy in the meantime, for there will be huge racks of BBQ ribs to consume then! When I was in the hospital this fall, the docs noticed some areas on my lungs they want to monitor. I'm scheduled for a follow-up CT in March.

I just did a review for WCS on my Central Texas Soaps puck(Grandpa's Barbershop.) Maybe will get back to WCS for the Noble Otter sometime.

Pure decadence, Bruce, and a great write up. I just noticed something. Most everyone here has a Karve except @Hembree. It's not a big deal, really. I just hate to see the poor guy miss out on having the best modern razor ever produced and the best shaves on the planet. Oh well, what he doesn't know won't hurt him. At least he has the Clemson Tigers.

Jim, I picked up my Chubby 2 in Super here: https://www.shaving.ie/simpson/ They have good prices if you're interested in a badger brush. They don't appear to stock many brushes, so you might have to check back occasionally to find the one you want. I haven't seen them list any Synthetic or LE brushes, though.

My Chubby 2 in Super is a pleasure to use. I'll bring it out for the next few shaves. Everybody needs at least one Simpson brush. ;)

But he doesn't have the Alabama Tide. Missing on two counts it seems. As for me, I love my Karve. Absolutely my favorite razor. Everyone should get one. (what's a Karve again? I forgot but we'll get him to buy one anyway)
