That's a wonderful set up, Jason. Thanks for the information on SV in comparison to other soaps. I'm glad you made it home safely.

Yup, I think I said something similar to ‘long term loan’ on the short-handled SA Neal has of mine as well...

I remember that winter well, Paul. I was in High School at the time. The schools were closed for quite a few days, which meant I could sleep late, goof off, and even make a few bucks shoveling driveways. 40 years later, the local TV station plays the same instrumental music when they roll the school closings. I still love hearing it. It brings back great memories.

lovely shave jason, how did your meeting go?other than my castle forbes lavender, the sv felce 4.3 is one of a only a few really expensive soaps i have.and its well worth it to me, lovely soap .mine is in the limited tin like yours and is quite hard. tabac? nothing will kill that scent.. love it . my fine soap lorange noir has lost most of its scent because of no cover on the puck but still lathers very well..
love the crat jr and the polsilvers.. have to try that combo soon..that razor works nicely with gsb and nacets for me..

I know you're glad to be back home. Excellent picture Jason with a truly gorgeous brush. Very well written summary of Felce 4.3 base. My experience pretty much matches yours.

The major memory I have is that all the cars on campus were covered, except for, of course, their antennas. :). My dorm room that year was, wouldn't you know, on ground level. Not much to see outside our windows. That was nice of you to shovel driveways.

Today's razor is yet another SuperSpeed - the second-last one in my test rack. I did just a quick one pass shave today for an acceptable but not stellar result.

I will use this setup again tomorrow when I have more time.

Great pics from the parade, Perry. Looks like the rain didn’t damper people’s moods.
Love the Felce scent, Joseph. May try to get my hands on some vintage Brut now...
That pretty much mirrors my experience with it, Clint. I picked up some SV bath soaps in a few different scents. It seems to let me try their scents without paying for the full pucks.
That soap is on the ropes! I trust Asha’s trip home will go uneventfully. I know you’ll be excited to have them both home for the holidays.
Hope everyone gets well this weekend, Rick. You are right about Proraso Green- when I first got it I thought the menthol was strong, and now it is my least strong menthol soap.
Great shave with a great scent, Gary. I really like Fine soaps as well.
Meeting was ok, Gary. More importantly, the plane left on time to come back home!
Like you, the SV is one of my few pricier pucks as well. Love it, and I’m not sure that triple milled soaps aren’t a better deal than they appear at first given how long the pucks last.

The soap will soon be in the done and dusted pile followed shortly by C&S Oxford and Cambridge. Asha arrived without any drama. It is nice to have both girls home. This will be Asha's only trip home until Christmas next year so we need to enjoy it while it last.

Gentlemen, let's don't be too hard on Neal. Instead, let's consider the possibilities.

He may have trust issues with Big Brother.
    1.jpg

He may not be allowed to mail packages based on his checkered past.
    2.jpg

He may have had a bad experience when he worked as a mail carrier.
    3.jpg

He may simply have poor eyesight.

Saturday Anti Decadence / Anti-Enabling Shave

    Karve (D plate)
    Gillette Silver Blue
    Simpson Duke 3 Best Badger
    Stirling Bergamot Lavender
    Thayer’s Lavender
    Chatillon Lux Unconditional Surrender

The soap choice this morning was inspired by Jim @jluc - at least as far as scent goes. I know not everyone likes the Bergamot Lavender scent, but that’s perfectly OK. I happen to love it. It has a bit of earthiness to it as well.

Off to the shave - doing my best to avoid enabling.

Don’t buy Stirling soaps. Who in their right mind would want a wonderful soap base, that super-goops into a super slick, protective lather? The fact they offer their products at a value, and have so many scent choices is just ridiculous. Find something else.

The Thater almost came out to play this morning, however that might tempt Neal @NCoxSTL . Wouldn’t want that. Instead the Simpson Duke 3 had appeared. Hate this brush. Despite the fact it’s densely packed, has good backbone to make loading easy, and lathers like a dream with its soft tips - you wouldn’t like it. You also wouldn’t like that this brush, with a knot of 24mm, makes it well-rounded. It easy goes into slightly smaller soap containers, yet producing plenty of lather for a three pass shave and then some. Nah…don’t bother.

    GSB blade? Smooth. Sharp. Junk.

Karve? Can’t recommend. It’s too nicely machined, and beautiful to shave with. Besides, the balance and feel in the hand is too nice to bother with. Don’t get me started on the efficiency….blah. Just go for a dollar store disposable or something.

How about the CL aftershaves? Too complex in scent and luxurious. Too many good for your skin ingredients, which gives your skin a softness. Pass on this stuff.

Everything worked together in harmony to provide an awful shave. Both passes and a little touch up - dreadful. How can you possibly enjoy a shave without blood? Not even a weeper! What’s up with that? Nearly ten hours later and my face is still fairly smooth. What a ripoff. I just hope tomorrow the shave is this bad again. :)
