    Thank you, Clint!
That brush would really be up Rick's @RyX alley, since he loves a good boar with lots of backbone.
I hope you and your family have an enjoyable and memorable time for the holidays!

Excellent report. Thanks to you, Thater and Simpson brushes and the Karve razor have now been definitely crossed off my list of future acquisitions...

Interesting write up, Jason, thank you. I wouldn't mind seeing a picture of the 4.3 soap when you get an opportunity. It wouldn't surprise me if this base was "dumbed down" for the ASW brand.

Sorry about the all-around bum shave, Bruce. Those stupid Simpson brushes and Karve razors! And that vile soap and aftershave! And to top things off, no blood! I bet your Bride felt unappreciated too. She didn't have to apply any dressings and bandages to your wounds. Your smooth face probably feels all tickly. I bet that's aggravating. I dang near cried for you both. ;)

Your humor reminds me of this gent. I love it. He describes how well his briefcases are made by making fun of the counterfeiters. :p

They even make some with shorter lofts as well. I am not sure I would want to go shorter than I have.

    And, thanks for the chuckle!
A 32mm??? Are you nuts?? ;) You'd have to load from a garbage can with that size of knot!
The one I have is the 4125/1 - a three band, 24mm knot. Given its splay, it acts bigger than it is - probably more like a 26mm. Since it's a three band, the backbone isn't going to be the same a a two band, of course. Yet, I've never had any issues loading any soaps, even triple-milled ones. Thaters are very densely packed, which seems to contribute some backbone. The softness of the tips are the hallmark of Thater. I could spend hours lathering my face with it.

Oddly enough, I've had some of my best Williams lathers with the Thater. Go figure...

If I'm not mistaken, Clint @clint64 has the 4125/3 - the big brother to mine. Maybe he can jump in with his thoughts on the bigger knot, and how it performs.

I have the 3 band as well which is listed as a 28mm but mine measures out at 29mm. I find the brush very soft but with more than enough backbone. I would certainly not call it floppy. It is a pure joy to use for face lathering. Given the size and density of the knot I would have thought it would be more of a lather hog. However, if you want to be frugal with soaps this is not a brush I would recommend.

Look on the BST threads on The Shave Nook and Damn Fine Shave. They come up for sale fairly often.

Yes, I'm afraid that the whole experience was a letdown due to these products. :happy097:

That dude is hilarious! I couldn't help but watch the whole thing. Some of the comments, especially towards the end had me laughing out loud. Now I have his website pulled up in a different tab.....
