Decadent December!!

We're halfway through December. What?!?! Yep, it's true. And I'm finishing the front half with the Muhle R41 Twist on its third run with the Sharp Star. Soap is the classic Tabac and the brush is the Canuck with SynBad knot. Lather was magnificent. Fun to watch this brush tackle the soap. At first I thought I'd have to add more water but nope. The brush loaded up like it was hungry and produced three full passes of lather with enough left over at the end to do three more if I'd wanted.

The three passes were all smooth and uneventful, leading to a BBS finish with alum mostly quiet. A few hot spots on my neck. Nice way to finish the day.

Mail Call!!!

Quick mail call today. On the left - the Gillette Super Blue Blades that @John Ruschmeyer tried recently. I promised him a full trial on the blades. He also included the matching "razor" for them. Looks suspiciously like the Rapira that I have had varying degrees of failure with. He swears this one will outperform the Rapira. We shall see at some point in the not too distant future. The rest of the stuff on the right? My latest small Stirling order. I had to get a tub of Orange Chill and couldn't resist adding the Bonaparte soap and splash to the mix. And Mountain Man body lotion to help fight off the dry air this winter. Plus, he threw in a sample of Arkadia bath soap. Somehow he seems to think if he throws a sample in I'll bite on the bait and order more. Not me. Nope. Never. (Don't tell him that's how this order happened off the sample of Orange Chill soap. What he doesn't know won't hurt me when SWMBO finds out)

Thanks John, it's a great brush that is going into this week's rotation. Love how it lathers and feels in the hand. I'm never letting it out of my sight!

4.3 Colonia on the left and 4.0 Felce on the right.
My 4.0 Felce looks exactly like you're 4.3, correct??
My 4.3 Colonia is NOT the same soap base as your 4.3 Felce. No wonder I dislike it so.

Does the twist actually adjust the gap, or simply unscrew to change blades?

 

I do too. He was a cranky ole guy but a lot of fun.

 

HA!! Fuzzy is fuzzy all over. I will just let that mental pic hang out there.

Just making sure. You never know.

 

One of the tricks to add a little backbone to a floppy badger was to wrap a pony tail holder around the base of the knot. It works very well for firming up a knot.
