I can *almost* understand why someone would want to do a NB. I’d be a fool to commit - and be setting myself up for failure. There are still more items I want - and that’s not including the ones I don’t know that I want yet.

Nope. Just can’t see pigeonholing myself. This is a hobby, and keeping things fresh, including adding products, will help keep it a hobby.

If it weren’t being married, I suspect that things would get ridiculous.

Monday, oh Monday morning....


The 29th day of my 30DF and a great shave for all the time invested.
Tuesday morning will be the end of my stint on the Muhle R41 razor.
A 3x3 shave that rival's all great shaves I've had so far. Close, smooth and just nice. The 30 days was worth every minute and I recomend a focus to anyone who wants a better shave or, just for the fun of it.
So one more hurray for the R41 and off to some of my underused tools of the hobby.

Let’s just say I had an active weekend that was fun and away from the internet

 

Well, I think it is pretty well documented that I am one of the NB'18 folks (I guess I can pull it from my signature when 2018 ends...). I did it to 'slow down the train', not as a belief in a minimalist shaving experience. That is probably the most positive residue of the experience- I have been quite purposeful in my purchases since. The only razors I purchased this year (not via trade) were the beauty New Improved from John and an E2 I paid virtually nothing for, and I can still go almost a month through the razor rotation. I've tried to go with a 'one in, one out' model, so have PIF'ed two underused razors and soaps when I got a few new ones in. Soaps and splashes have been via trade, with a few exceptions. Did I increase my den this year? Yes, and I will sleep very well about it. Was the NB worth it? Yes, it allowed 2017 to cool down a bit.
That being said, I have a soap and asb ordered as we speak...only for a scientific experiment, I assure you...

 

Sorry for the multiquote tonight fellas , but we went tree shopping , moved couches from downstairs to upstairs and vice versa, stood up the tree and now she's beckoning me to get over and help decorate .....soooooo, great shaves and pics today everyone !

Hey Danny @Hembree !! Remember that I said the setup today would closely resemble yours?

Also as promised, I used the Stirling Ozark Mountain, as inspired by Perry @PLAla .
This soap - a sample - was sent around this time last year by Jared @PickledNorthern , along with a bunch of others.

The brush is courtesy of Clint @clint64 , which he sent along the “The Weapon” handle.

First off, the soap. I absolutely love the scent of the Ozark Mountain. As with most of their products, they nailed the scent. For myself, I can’t see getting a full tub of this one. While I don’t generally classify soaps a being seasonal, this one is an exception. I have a hard enough time finishing soaps, so only using this soap for a handful of shaves per year, it would last well beyond my lifetime.

The little OneBlade brush did a great job getting the soap to do what Stirling soaps do best. We all know what that is, so I won’t even bother…

The Rockwell did its usual job, quickly whisking away the stubble and leaving the face nice and smooth. Even the area around the Adam’s Apple is good.

Things wrapped up with a splash of Eleven Blue Spruce aftershave - the closest match for the soap that I have. It’s a lighter scent than Ozark Mountain. Still pine-like, but not as heavy. Like Stirling aftershaves, Eleven packs a few good moisturizing ingredients, which make the skin soft.

i want a karve razor,a CK-6 soap,1 noble otter , 1 more b and m soap,that should fill the gaps...

cograts terry ,my first completed month focus was with oc razors.not a big deal for most but was for me ..now a non issue for me.. i am still mindful and respectful of them but i now know what to expect when i use one..

 

Congratulations on a highly successful 30 Day Rule! You should find all your other razors easier to use now too.
