The Fatip - 2 out of 10?!?!?!? Whoever wrote that review clearly has issues with aggressive razors. And if he's rating it that because of "lack of quality" he's equally wrong. I've never seen anyone complain about anything with the Fatip except it cuts them. Well, guess what? It's an aggressive OC razor that needs some skill to use. And you, my good sir, proved your worth. Excellent shave.

 

Nice setup, Brian. I had forgotten that you also had a Mongoose. I thought these razors were the bees knees when they came out. Now we have so many cool modern SE options.

Lots of discussion about Clubman lately around these parts, mainly from its detractors. Clubman got nuttin’ on Midnight Stag. While Clubman might be the choice for picking up the ladies in Piggly Wiggly, Midnight Stag might be the choice for picking up….um…I dunno…a truck stop lot lizard maybe? Seriously, this is brutal stuff.
Put it this way - if you’re wearing Midnight Stag, and a hottie in Piggly Wiggly comes up to you and starts flirting, telling you how good you smell - proceed with caution. It’s probably a dude.
Methinks that Chiseled Face should’ve marketed this one towards women who have a crush on their local car mechanic, named Butch or Spike.

I picked this soap & AS out today because of Paul @Paul Turner mentioning it. Besides, my wife isn’t home today, which is key. I’d prefer to stay married.

Scent aside, CF soaps are really very good as far as performance is concerned. The post shave feel is where they really shine. Most likely, I’ll finish the samples of Midnight Stag - but I’d never order a full tub or full bottle. Ghost Town Barber? Oh yeah. That’s a nice one!

Ok, guys….here’s something that’s not making a whole lotta sense to me. Starting yesterday, the GSB in the Rockwell was swapped to a Feather. Both yesterday and today I ended up with weepers on my neck during the ATG pass. With other blades, that doesn’t seem to happen. I’ll be the first one to chalk it up to technique and/or addition of pressure - as well as agreeing with the theory “a blade is a blade”. Yet, I use the same angle (riding the cap) as what I would with other blade. And, I’m being vigilant about watching the pressure, and yes - plenty of skin stretching. The Feather just feels “grabby”, rather than just slicing through the stubble smoothly. It’s not the first time I’ve felt that way about a Feather, which rules out a dud blade. The simple solution would be to use other blades. Stubbornness makes me want to use them. Thoughts? Merely a technique thing?

Aside from the weepers, the last two shaves have been decent. The finished results have been a very smooth face. Yet, not any smoother than what the GSB , or an Astra offers. Which again cements the theory that “a blade is a blade”, since all shaving really does is cut off the hair at skin level.
