Thanks guys. Merry Christmas to you and your families! Yes, Jason, it will be great to spend next Christmas in our new home.
I did leave early and get home at a decent time. Wouldn’t you know it. The ladies have gone shopping. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Maybe we will see when the SS comes to market. I saw that he has a brass open comb plate in prototype. He posted a picture on instagram. That’s really tempting. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
It has. It’s a dark horse. Smells like being in the woods with a small whiff of a fireplace burning off in the distance (not smoky though). I bought it as a bath/shower bar to try out the scent. Initial impression was that it was “just OK”. By the time I finished the bar I was totally addicted.
Thanks Randy for you input on the scent. Ozark and Gatlinburg have peaked my interest in Stirling. Have you tried Gatlinburg? I was wondering what the difference is in the scents. I just ordered Stirling Noir to see how I like the Stirling soaps. This will be my first venture into Stirling and I can hardly wait.
I use Doc Ezlovan's bath/shower bars at my sink for simple hand/washing. Stoylin on the hands....nice concept. I'll have another look at Ozark, but maybe for shaving purposes as well. Meantime, I'm trying to "enable myself"on a solid Western/manly smelling combo for soap&A.S. I must say the History 101(Summer Breaks Soaps)looks pretty good for this.
I'm interested in Noir muhself. If it doesn't walk away with the first Stoylin Tony Awards(it did get a nomination), there's always the future.
That there is a full-blown hipster shave, Andrew. Fancy modern razor, vegan brush, brush handle made from 100% renewable resources, coffee scented soap, and frozen cranberry aftershave. At least you used Russian steel! The only thing you're missing is the craft beer. It's great to see Logan today! I bet he's gonna love Christmas! Have a great time off next week with your family!
I tried gatlinburg at one point, but it didn’t leave a strong impression. Honestly, Ozark didn’t either at first, so I’m not sure that’s much of an indicator. Stirling has a ton of good scents, so what I ended up doing over time was buying their 1 oz samples (only $3 each) and putting them in the soap tins Rod sells (for like $1). One sample will give you 30+ shaves... or so I’ve been told. I probably have 20 of their soap samples in tins and haven’t used one up yet. I also figure that I’ve gotta use soap in the shower, so I buy soap bars to try stuff out too. All of it is better than lever or Irish spring.
Randall, I sorta figured you used Caress Daily Silk Beauty Bar or Dove Sensitive Skin Unscented Hypo-Allergenic Beauty Bar in the shower.
Jason it takes on average 100 shaves to get good consistent shaves with a straight, so don’t get discouraged. Technique is the probable culprit, Including face prep. I generally shower, lather, strop, relather, then start shaving. The angle can vary from one man to the next, but generally 30-15 degrees for most razors and hair types, and almost flat for the xtg atg passes. Just need to experiment on where the angle works best for you. One more thing can you post a pic and size of the razor. Good luck Jason and we will be here to help you through this.
One would be inclined to think that, but I think she may actually have a defective sniffer! I did shave with it once after she went to bed, the next morning she woke me up saying I need to shower whatever that smell is off.
