Sorry to be so quiet the past few days. Friday was busy with a final meeting and the drive home and lots going on around the house all weekend. Which brings us today which I am taking off from work...

December 24, 2018- A "Special" Christmas Eve Shave

    Razor: D2 Gillette TV Special
    Blade: Treet Platinum
    Brush: Razorock Plissoft 22
    Soap: Stirling Sheep
    Post: Alum, Listerine, WH

Today's razor comes by way of the Land Of Misfit (Shaving) Toys. It's a TV Special that I picked up back in September or October but never got to because of various focuses. It's definitely user grade with very dull plating that seems very thin on the handle and totally missing from the underside of the tray.

Is it just me or is the plating on TV Specials especially bad. I have three of them and the best one has obvious spots on the handle where the brass is showing through and the worst one has almost no remaining plating at all. This one is solidly in the middle.

Nevertheless, it works like a champ and produced a DFS+, mowing down three days of growth. All in all, a great start to the holiday.

It can make you a little nervous at first, but it gets easier the more you use it. As for the nick on the adams apple stretch the skin to the side of it and it’s alot easier to get without cutting yourself there. And for a beginner a 5/8 round point is recommended, they are a little more forgiving for the errant stroke where the length of the blade is misjudged and easier to keep the angle that works for you. Nice blades and welcome to the dark side.

Thank you Guys. It is nice to have both girls home for the holidays. Charlie the office was closed today but I decided to go into the client site and get somethings done so next week might go easier.

20181224_103217.jpg I got the new shelf put up this morning. It is the lower shelf. I will pull them all down latter on a paint them to match. I was just trying to get organized and to see how the shelf would work out. I just need a larger bathroom.

    Jabonman Vetiver de Haiti~~AoS Badger~~1956 B4 Super-Speed~~Personna 74~~Vetiver de Guerlain AS
If my first introduction to badger brushes had been this 14mm Art of Shaving brush, I probably would

never have used one again, so scritchy is this little fellow.
    When compared to my Simpson Wee Scot, the AoS holds no more lather; the AoS handle is no easier to hold;
is just as, if not even more floppy; and, as I just mentioned, could be justifiably be compared to sand paper.
I was able to create via face-lathering just enough lather for three passes.
The Jabonman lather was very slick, but I never felt like I had enough lather to provide the cushion I prefer.
The Personna 74 is an amazing blade, still darn sharp and very smooth. I wish that I had a 1000 of them.
I get about 20-25 shaves/blade; doing the math, that is about 68 years of daily shaving.
I am 62...yeah, that would be just about enough. :)
The vintage Vetiver de Guerlain is just amazing. I prefer it, by a long shot, over Tom Ford Grey Vetiver.
I hope everyone here on TSD has a blessed Christmas and has an opportunity to share the day with those most

    important in their lives. :santa

Great photo and gear. I have a B2 (minty shape) Super that I am going to break out next month. I have never shaved with one and I am looking forward to it. Merry Christmas and merry shaves.

Thank you Danny. I have few SS razors. This is my only flair. They are reliable; they hold the blade securely and give great shaves. You will like it.
    Merry Christmas to you, too.

First one is a little too much flair for me but I would love to to have rode around with Piper and Flair. That would have been awesome! We would have had to include the Macho Man!
