Yes you're right @BaylorGator and I look forward to continuing my shenanigans, and, oh yes, having great shave all year.

(Edited by @RyX - Paul I pulled you out of the quote, but then you know what that's all about! :happy088:)

Happy to be in once again. My focus is to try to make more entries in here. While SOTD is the place to list our shaves, of course, this thread is place to lie back on that couch in the therapy office and TALK about 'em. Course we talk about "other stuff" in here too,but it's time to talk about my shaves the way a radio/TV station traffic reporter talks about traffic(but not that fast!!). Happy 2019, TSD!!!!

What a fantastic opening post, Neal! Thank you for your reflections, and most importantly, for helping us look ahead to a new year. I'm honored to be part of the 30 Day Crew, and I look forward to developing more friendships, learning new things, and having fun with you all this year.

Happy New Year! I'll be in as usual. Will be going through each and every soap and cream in alphabetical order. Samples, tubs, shave sticks, tubs and tubes of cream. It will all get used. Will use the normal injectors and SE razors in my collection. I might go through the injectors in alphabetical order as well. I want to continue with soap reduction and can hopefully identify a few candidates to PIF or sell after going through all of them this month and into February.

Going to be a great year in the best little corner of the interwebs!

@Linuxguile, I am very sorry to hear the sad news of your father-in-law's passing. Losing a loved one is difficult, especially at this time of year. Pat led an incredible life and left a strong family legacy. I can only imagine from your posts that he was incredibly proud of you. His legacy now lives on through you, your Bride, Logan, and Declan. You and your family are in my prayers.

Somehow, Randy, my reply to your post got morphed IN it. Let's see if this works. Course my 2019 Pinaud Purchase Package(, say THAT one time fast)will be a key purchase for this year(now that you bring up Clubman), but I'm cutting back. Need to "lower" some soap tubs-that's the main plan. I do have hopes for a few new soaps, though.

    Good 1st day of 2019!
Well I started a focus on Sunday so here it is...
    20190101_091904.jpg January 2019 Focus
    Learn an open blade razor!

Razors- H Boker Magnetic 1st pass- Fatip Retro 2cd, 3rd pass & 3 pass head shave.
    Blade- Polsilver (new)
    Soap- Stirling Bay Rum
    Brush- Omega Badger
Finish- Stiirling Bay Rum post shave

Well the open blade cut better this morning. Don't know if it's getting sharper with each strop session or I'm getting better, maybe both. I do have a rough spot on the left side of my neck, no blood just sore if that makes any sense. Having a slow start to left handed shaving, gonna take time to get that down.
The rest of the job wen't calm and easy. I'm smooth and clean with no issues other than the neck thing.
A top 5 shave in closeness! What a way to start the year!
First time with Stirling Post Shave. I went to shake it and heard and felt nothing move. That's because it's so thick and the bottle so full nothings moving. I slothered it on, only using about half of the normal glob, nice. I still feel soft more than an hour after using it. So seems to be a real winner for my old, wore out skin type.
    One thing to add...
The combination of the Fatip Retro and Polsilver blade seems perfect. This was only my 2cd time using the Fatip and it seems like these two were a match made in razor heaven :happy088::happy088:.
Glad I was "convinced" to bring the retro into my den. The blades were talked about so much, with such high praise, well... glad I got 100 of them, uh I have 98 now ;).

    HAPPY NEW YEAR!
    Enjoy

Great shave, Terry! The Stirling balms are amazing. I use about a pea's worth which is plenty. Wonderful skin care. Have a great day!

    Great work!

I'm not sure that you're allowed to use Egyptian math on Swedish Supersteel blades made in Russia.
You need to check your answer again!

I'd like to issue a "friendly protest" to the survey this month. It appears to me that you can't "reduce the number of soaps in my den" without "shaving..simple". Can we vote on both?.

    NCoxSTL AAACK!

Nice job on that shave. The "sore neck" issue is something you'll work through. Basically you came very close to cutting yourself but didn't. Traditional straights can do that. I always thought they'd be the sharpest and scariest of the razors but the pain sticks far exceed them on the scary meter. With a straight if you set down wrong or hit the wrong angle you generally get a "tingle" out of the blade which is a warning it's about to do damage. Back off and you escape the blood in most cases. With pain sticks, if you feel any "tingle", you're already bleeding. My left hand is also my weak side and it does take extra time to work it into shape. I don't think my left hand will ever be as strong as my right with a razor, but the gap has closed significantly in the past few years. Again, great shave and it will be fun to watch you continue to learn!

I'll have to check with @clint64 on math concepts. He's the accountant, and I'm fairly sure he can come up with any number he chooses. ;)
