Your son's 55 Farmall is built like a tank and is in such beautiful shape (definitely worth restoring), and you can't find a Chevette anywhere these days. If you could, it couldn't even be recycled to make thumb tacks. Almost the same story with vintage Gillette razors vs. multi-blade carts. I'm not a mechanic (or even mechanically inclined) by a long shot, but I really admire the quality workmanship and overbuilt designs of the past. Every time I go to the National Navy Aviation Museum, I just marvel at the mechanical designs on the WWII airplanes...I like mechanical watches for the same reason.

Your razor is very sparkling and looks great. My little Goldie below. The razor is a little darker than the picture and has a little plate loss on the guide bars and doors but she is a beauty.

Now to the focus. I bought this tub of B&M First Snow in New York and it worked great while I was in NYC but when I returned to Seoul it was a failure. I followed my usual procedures, bloomed the soap and then loaded it like it owed me money. Today it worked pretty good so tommorow I will put it to the straight razor test.

    Irritation A+ Closeness A+

Razor: Cobra Classic (Feather Pro 3)
    Brush: Yaqui space
    Soap: B&M First Snow
    AS: Speick AS, L’Occitane ASB
    Scent: Knize Ten

Could not agree more. Years ago things were over engineered and were built to last. Computers came along and now things can be designed to do a certain job and that is it and you better not exceed its design limits. Case in point - I work at a John Deere industrial dealer. Deere used to have a 6414 engine. 6 cylinder @ 414 cubic inches. The 6414 was replaced by the new and improved 6068 - 6 cylinders @ 6.8 liters. The 6068 block was 80 pounds lighter than the 6414 and could not take the "fuel screw" adjustment like the 6414. The 6414 would stay together with the fuel turned to it. The 6068 you had better leave set the way the factory set it. With the computer controls and EPA regulations those days of "fuel adjustments"are over.

    Will do. :happy088:

Charlie - Could you imagine being laid back in a barber chair getting a professional straight razor / hot towel shave and the Celtic Woman group is over in the corner of the barber shop singing? That would almost be heaven.
