Howdy Ryan. If I had a drink now, I'd be asleep before the ice melts.

Ice? Hmmm... I guess one cube is acceptable.

When I drink straight up I need a little ice to cut the burn. The exception might be Chivas or other premium brands which are generally too expensive for me to keep on hand.

Hey, I got an Amazon gift cert in the mail for $25 for using their credit card. Spend 2500. Get 25 back. Good deal.....for them! Still I'll take a "free" gift.

    Welcome.

    Good luck with the job.

Hmm... sounds awesome. I hope you come back and say that you actually fell asleep on your desk.

A friend bought me a puck of Williams recently. I'll be trying that out for the first time pretty soon.

Wow. That's really great. Now that you mention it, I bet that's exactly what Rolls' whole situation looks like.

Unless you want a crossbow bolt in you.

There ya go Shep, always trying to start something. I have no idea what the issue with Connaught was, but it seems Tracy and Rodd have had good experiences with Paul. That's good enough for me, although I wish he sold the 7 O'Clock blacks in bulk (or anyone did, for that matter)....

Had a fantastic shave with my newly acquired NDC Fat Handled Tech. I used an Astra Superior that had one shave on it already, but sat out for a week since. I rollstropped (new word) it before using it. Wonderfully smooth. I also used JMF for the first time - awesome cream. It was the original scent...like nothing I've smelled before, but I liked it.

Anyone here ever hear of Marmite/Vegemite?

I received a whole crate of them recently and need to get rid of some because I have too much. Anyone interested?

If I want my drinks cold, I'll usually stick the glass in the freezer for a little. If I don't want to wait, I'll plop in one ice cube. I hate when whatever I'm drinking gets watered down, though.

How's that Amazon credit card, Shep? I've been thinking of getting it.

I usually slap it on toast.

    Found this online:

What do I do with it?

The most common use is as a spread on toast or in sandwiches. Note: it is generally spread very thinly because of its strong flavor—don't use it like jam. It has drug-like qualities; the more you eat, the thicker you need to spread it to get the same mouth-burning effect. Some people have even called it addictive.

It is also delicious spread on hot buttered crumpets or ryvita crackers. A pregnant fan has reported a love for Marmite and bananas.
Phil Johnson's favorite way to eat it is thinly-spread on rye toast with slices of sharp cheddar cheese. Very satisfying.

One contributor to the "I love Marmite" Web site has this suggestion: "Eat it on raw spaghetti. It's true! Dip raw spaghetti in Marmite and then eat; it tastes just like Twiglets."

A lot of Brits have it on buttered toast. Do take care not to get butter or bread crumbs in the Marmite jar. It makes an unappetizing mess for the next person.

There is no feeling like the smugness you feel when you manage to scrape just enough Marmite from the jar for another piece of toast. Top tip (from James Kew): pour boiling water into a near-empty jar and drink the jar clean.
A teaspoon of Marmite can also be added to soups, casseroles, and almost any savory food for a wonderful, rich flavoring.

In England, pretzel-like morsels and other boxed fast-food snacks are available with Marmite flavoring. Fans of Mr. Bean will remember an episode where he made hors d'oeuvres for a party by spreading Marmite on twigs cut from a tree outside his kitchen window.

In some neighborhoods it is (apparently!) common for nursing mothers to dab a little on their nipples before feeding their infants.

There are reports that some balding men have tried smearing Marmite on their heads to promote hair growth. No assessment of whether it works, however.
One reader of this FAQ writes: "I found you while surfing for Marmite. I don't know whom to tell but I think I have made a discovery. I used to get a lot of night cramps and took quinine. I did not like to take it every night and if I got a cramp I would eat a bit of salt. Because this makes me nauseous I tried Marmite. It stopped the cramp quite quickly. Then I started taking a teaspoonful of Marmite before going to sleep and I never get cramps now unless I forget to take it. This seems useful and I would like to share it."
Of course this is anecdotal and the keepers of this FAQ hereby officially disavow all claims about medicinal uses of Marmite—especially the suggestion, made by an American, that Marmite is very effective as a topical ointment in the treatment of haemorrhoids.

Well I got the Amazon card because it got me a free purchase when I signed up. Now I've gone through two $25 gift certs they send out for charging 2500 on their card. I used one to buy an xmas gift so that came in handy. Can't remember the interest rate off the top of my head, but it's not crazy bad. I guess overall I'm satisfied. I have another credit card that gives reward points you can spend at their online "store". Used that to buy another xmas present. I really like being able to do that. You don't have to come up out of pocket and they drop ship the thing where ever you want. Xmas was easy for me this year.

Vegemite is awful. My stomach is turning thinking about it.

I just ordered some stuff from Amazon with my Amazon CC. They don't send me gift certificates. Bastards.

Shep this is my take on the why Paul at Connaught was banned. I may be wrong but this is what I gathered.

Apparently there was some issues with vendors posting too much on the B and he may have been one of them. Paul must have been warned or something and then he sent some emails about it to other members. Mind you PM/emails, not thread posts. He was upset that certain members (LetterK of WSC) seemed to be able to post all they wanted to and that he thought it was BS that the mods let some do and some not.

Well one of the emails got forwarded to a mod and the rest is history.

If this is the case I find this pretty much B/S and just another lame excuse for certain people on a certain forum to ban someone.

This is just my take and maybe Pual will chime in.

Shep, I should have posted that stuff in HYD before I went to the classifieds, like I have done in the past. Now I kinda feel bad. I tell you what, the next time I come across any nice straights during my travels, I will send them your way, no charge. I even have an extra strop I could give you.

Ok thanks Tracy. I shouldn't go any further, but I will add one thing since it's "my" thread :D. If somebody is gonna get banned that's the business of whoever runs a particular website. We may not agree w/ the decision but it's tough titties basically. My problem is denying anyone from even displaying the name of a certain website. You're closing off avenues for newbies and old timers alike to discover new products. There are few enough places that sell our stuff so why restrict it up even further? I think John over at WCS has great deals on his blade samplers, and he's got the best price going for TOBS shipped. I would not want to prevent a new shaver from hearing about that just because I might have some vendetta against him personally (which I don't--I'm just making a point). This business of being "stricken from the book of life" is just foolish, childish and smacks of totalitarianism IMO.

You are a gentleman and a scholar sir. Don't feel bad. Nature called, I responded, another hunter showed up and bagged my game! The law of the jungle! If you find a decent straight in your travels and want to ship it my way I won't refuse. I've been hankerin' to try one for awhile. I wouldn't expect you to do it gratis however. Just let me know, and I can shoot the funds. Make sure the price is low though. I'm not dropping 100 bucks on a straight until I know it's for me. Thanks Rolls. Good man.

Agreed. I don't know all of the details but it peeves me that they just take upon themselves to not let us choose for ourselves. If it was bad and worthy of a ban then why not just post a thread stating why so newbies, etc can decide to steer clear or to use that person/vendor. You can ban someone but still let people post a website/vendor and post their experiences with that person.

Well let's put that one to bed. Don't want to get things flaming out of control here. Personally I find the prices at R&B to be a bit high, and I've seen more than one report about people not getting orders nor responses from inquiries. Enough so that I am leery. I have heard nothing neg. about Connaught and may just order up some cream if I like your sampler. :happy088
