    Stirling Kaboom soap and AS

Second shave with the Perma-Sharp was much better then the first. Funny how a good slick lather can change your perception on blade performance. I'm not sure about the scent of Kaboom, it's nice enough and masculine for sure but there is something in the base that reminds me of play-doh. Anyone else pick up on that? Shaved this morning and put on a generous amount of the AS but got no notice from my wife. It might be her state of mind with her dad's funeral funeral on Monday though, so we'll try again with Kaboom in a few weeks if so to see if she gives it any notice. Have a great weekend my friends!

Was it really that obvious Terry? I think I need to work on my methods of being subtle. My smiling razors were all relatively in expensive, the harder part is finding the vintage ones that don’t have excessive hone wear.

Thanks Chris. Pair the Grape Nuts with an avocado at breakfast and see what you think. It holds me till lunch with no problems. The Aeropress is a cool gift. I bet it would work great with loose tea.

Thank you Andrew, sounds like you had a great shave too. It is odd how much a small difference in lather can make or break an opinion on a blade.

I brew Yerba Mate in aeropress occasionally. Tea will work just fine!

i like the b and m reserve classic..my only soap and splash of theirs. wanted a taste of the old gillette sun up scent.not a daily driver soap for me though as i have and like stirling and many others..the pdp 63 surprised me .for first time out the lather was grand..scent plays a big part as to what i chose for the shave as most of my soaps and creams are similar in performance..

This is my tea set up. Kettle was less than $20 on Amazon. Cast iron post is for when I want to make a full pot. Most of the time I make a cup at a time. Tea in basket, basket in cup, add hot water. The tea leaves are easy to get out of the basket. I have a similar set up for tea at work. I drink tea after I finish my half pot of coffee in the morning. I drink mainly green and white teas. What do you like?

I apologize for my inability to keep up in here. Sometimes real life ain’t all it’s cracked up to be. It appears that I’m about 230 posts behind, so there’s some catching up to do. Sorry if I don’t comment on all the glorious photos, etc. Just know that you guys rock - you’re what makes this group so much fun and keep it great!

Anyway….I received my Parker SRX yesterday, and put it to use (and myself to the test) this morning. How did it go? Not too bad. Calling it the best shave ever would be quite a stretch. Calling it the best shave I’ve had with a shavette would be right on target. I’ve only tried a shavette twice before, with less than good results. Today the shave gods showed some mercy and let me keep all but a few drops of my blood. Yep…a few weepers…I can live with that.

At first it sorta felt like a monkey trying to hump a football. After a few minutes, things settled in a little bit. The shaking subsided and things began to click a little bit. Not a lot, but a little. I remained respectful, and did my best not to get cocky or stupid. Yeah. I copped out a bit and straightened out the scales and kicked it Kamisori style for some of the shave. But, honestly…who cares how the job gets done? I did practice using my left had a bit. Strangely enough, it felt less weird than using my left with a DE razor. Still weird though.

I could’ve left well enough alone and went with the results from the SRX, but I did end up doing a quick pass with the Schick to clean things up a little bit. Looking forward to giving it another whirl tomorrow morning.
