  1. Love the cast iron pot! I'm pretty not-picky with tea. Yerba Mate is good. Matcha. I love greens, whites, blacks...I drink it all, pretty much. I have a local tea shop that sells a wide variety of loose leaf tea. I like oolong and rooibos a lot too.

  3. Congrats Bruce! I call your first run with the SRX a success! With time and practice, the shaves will keep getting better. Nice job!

  4. It seems like it has a bit of vetiver in the base. It smells a little earthy. This was one I had bought for someone as a gift, and when my wife smelled it she asked why I hadn’t gotten one for me. Since I have been wetshaving there are three scents she has done that with. I ordered a set for me, and she loves it. I’ve actually been thinking about getting the cologne it is based on, because I like it too.

  5. Cool, now we have tea enabling! I've been drinking the Twinings black tea (Earl Grey, etc.) using tea bags with a teaspoon of honey. It's nothing special, just the stuff you get at Walmart. Do you guys have suggestions on a better tasting tea? Is loose leaf better than tea bags?

  7. "Better" is very subjective here, just as in shaving. It is a whole nother rabbit hole, and allows you to explore, prepare to the strength you prefer, etc. I enjoy loose leaf teas. You think tea is tea apart from the added flavors, but it ain't. White teas are more delicate, black teas more intense, green teas a whole different ballgame. There's African teas, Indian teas, middle eastern, orientals...You gotta explore and find what you like.

  8. It's kinda like coffee. Some folks are perfectly content and happy with Folgers in a can. And you have coffee snobs who like to debate the notes and how it hits the palate. I've taken to buying green coffee and roasting my own. Again, just to be able to explore the differences. If you have a good tea chop in town, many with let you sniff the different loose leafs before buying.

  9. Thanks Chris. I might visit one of the local tea shops and pick up some teas to try. I'm a longtime coffee drinker - currently use a pour over and occasionally a French Press. I don't roast beans, but I do grind beans occasionally. A local coffee roaster hosts tastings of his different roasts. Maybe the tea shops do likewise. Thanks again.

I like loose leaf a lot more. Seems like the flavor is better. I’m a bit of a coffee snob too, so take that for what it’s worth. I went kind of nuts when I started drinking tea about 5 years back, and bought seven pounds of different kinds to try. Do you have any idea how much tea seven pounds is? I’m almost through most of what I bought, and I know what I like now for what will get refilled. There is a rediculoisly overpriced store in most malls called Teavana (btw, the employees get bent if you call it Tijauna while in the store,) but they often have samples out of different kinds of teas, and several ways to prepare them. I order most of my tea from https://www.adagio.com/

Be warned, the rabbit hole is deep.

  12. Cool. Thanks for the info, Adam. In the last few years, I've been down the pocket knife, fountain pen, mechanical watch, shaving, coffee bean, and one or two other rabbit holes. One more shouldn't matter too much. :happy097:

  14. Go down the large format photography rabbit hole. Started out with one enlarger below which I stripped down and repainted. One enlarger has turned into three 4x5s and one 5x7 enlarger plus a darkroom sink, lenses, timers, etc. The enlarger below was built right after WW2. vo28H2J5Nss.jpg

  16. Cool, I didn't realize film photography was still a big thing. I used to love shooting 35 mm (still have my old Canon AE-1), and I spent a little time in the darkroom many years ago. I'm hooked on digital photography these days. This feller has sent me down that rabbit hole... https://www.kenrockwell.com/

It's a very nice razor. I like the weight and feel. It will take time to truly get the feel for it, but that's OK. And, if for whatever reason, it doesn't seem enjoyable after giving it a fair shake, that's OK too.
