DE89 Top Plate Replacement..

I think I’ve read somewhere that the Muhle R89 Top Plate https://www.shaving.ie/products/muhle-replacement-top-plate-r89.html is the same as the Edwin Jagger DE89 (or is at least interchangeable). Is this true? Can’t seem to locate a definitive answer.

I thought the top & bottom plates were the same.

Actually I didn’t think to check EJ’s site.

They sell it with a pack of blades!

Now off to find my screw extractor!

 

I've heard it said that they are not identical, but I've never been shown a difference. I have both, and can't tell them apart.

 

Ah Geez, don't tell me your top cap broke. Man, I am so sorry. Mind doing a how to for extraction? For us folks that might have the issue in the future?

 

Just do yourself a favor and purchase an MJ-90 from Italian Barber. It's aluminum. Yes it's soft, but it's not Zamak.

 

I have one and I'm a big fan of the EJ DE89 but the above is excellent advice.

The MJ-90 is a better quality razor for a ridiculously low price.

 

That's why I bought one. I like the shave of the EJ, but I'm not a fan of Zamak.
