Hello everyone on this fine Monday!
I'm not feeling very well today, got that stomach illness that's going around. I'm still here, but slower than normal.

Because I'm a little under the weather, I decided to do only one pass with the straight this morning. Got an "expected" shave with it, even though I only used my right hand this time. Seems I need to hone my stroping skills, seems I use just a little to much presure. I am getting better holding it and using my thumb to control the blade while stroping, practie is the key. I have two small strops 2 1/2" by 18", cheap and no worries if I cut them up, so far though, had none of that.
The rest of the job went as planned, smooth and easy. The Fatip Retro loaded with a Polsilver gives a very nice shave on the 2cd and 3rd pass. With this DE/blade combo the shave for the old gord has gotten as good as ever. The Bay Rum is just the thing I need in the morning for a fresh sent to wake up to, so much I wore it all day. I felt better after getting ready for the day.
After getting home from work, I went and practiced my stroping skills for a few miniutes. Ahhhh! with that lighter touch, it's ready again for my open blade focus rule.
This was a rescue razor, so to speak. Not taken care of, left alone to die a poor rusty death. I never shaved with, honed or anything concerning a straight razor. Using 4 flattened water stones and a cheap strop, sand paper and rubbing compound, I think it can now live a long productive life. I didn't make it pretty, just usable. Yes! This is a labor of love and life. Watching youtube and building on some old knowledge to get this piece of forgotten metal back from the brink.
So... If by chance I do learn the fine dark art of open blade shaving, and learn how to keep a blade keen and ready. I will have learned much more than how to shave.
Thanks to all!!
Enjoy
