The Dovo long blades have less play in the holder than the regular DE half blades which gives a more traditional straight shave experience. The reason is that the black holder has three cylindrical tabs that mesh with the openings on the Dovo long blade, thus, giving a stiffer blade experience.

Wonderful shave and photo Bruce. You are really making great progress with the shavette.

I have the Luxor Pro also and the corners are covered. Like to get my hands on the Proraso red preshave if they ever get it in here at the drugstore . I asked if they could bring more in and apparently i wasnt the only one to request it . Guess im not the only wetshaver in this town.

Great to see you back Andrew!
    That's a nice setup Brian.
    Great report as always Joseph.
When i feel tugging , i change blade . If it still tugs i change angle or my grip. Great shave .

Now if you were using a multiblade cart razor Randy I'd probably be upset, but do to your situation (ouch!)you get a pass and can skip the shavette. Hope the chin feels better !

I believe that when we first start out with safeties that we start by continuing cartridge techniques. Once we graduate to straight shaving, then we apply the newly acquired techniques when we return to DE safeties, thus, giving us better shaves with it.

    Day 5.

First pass could have been better. Whenever I use La Toja as intended, I end up not getting it hydrated enough on the first pass. Or maybe I'm just using too much? What's in the brush is perfect, so second and third passes are no problem. Should have just used the bowl.

Second pass was much better. Comfortable enough that I went ahead and completed the whole second pass with the straight. I made a few tweaks to the grip and direction and that helped a bunch.

    Finished again with the Fatip.

And I forgot to include the brush in the photo yesterday do I made sure to go get it this time. It is part of my focus this month after all. I have to grudgingly admit that I am warming up to it. Some more breaking in is really making a difference. Next month I'll have to do the same with my Stirling two band.

Excellent photo! I also find it difficult to properly hydrate a shave stick application for the first pass.

Thanks Clint! The grips I use might not be normal. Then again, I’m not a normal person. ;)
Let me know when you want me to send the Parker your way for a test drive.

Another excellent photo. I have problems with getting shave sticks right on the first pass.

Thanks for the offer but I don’t see myself using a shavette or SR. I’m too old and shake too much.

Nice photo and shave! I had the same problem when using La Toja. I did some focus time on shave sticks and determined that using less soap worked better. Then I would wet the brush, squeeze out, and then push the brush down on my cheek. Add a little water and move the bristles up and down on cheek to get the soap started into a protolather. Then I'd do the same on the other cheek. Then more water on the tips and go to town face lathering. I've not experienced dry lather since using that method.

Glad to hear that the service matched the integrity of your father in law, Andrew. Take Care.
Very nice, Brian. Glad to see you've been able to spend some time at home the past few weeks as well.
Actually, Paul, I don't believe it does. I think this is a discontinued scent. @Drygulch might know more, he is very knowledgable on some older Jeeves scents, I believe.
A nice combo and some beautiful woodwork in your photo, Joseph. 'Unicorn' for sure!
Another successful Shavette shave, Bruce! You guys are rocking it this month.
I have found issues with sticks if I have too much product rubbed on my face- Tabac can be like that too.
