As I previously stated I have a big NO! On the SR, but I am experimenting with finding a daily driver.
Today was the clog proof and Williams.
It has been far too long since I have had the community coffee with Chickory, I highly recommend it. IMG_20190108_133705_105.jpg

When i feel tugging , i change blade . If it still tugs i change angle or my grip. Great shave .
    [/QUOTE]
Thanks Patrick! Yep. Figured the blade would get changed today to eliminate that factor for the next shave. If it still tugs, that’s on me.

Yeah, it's not as big of a deal with safety razors. Not helpful at all for learning to use a straight.

I beg to differ with you, kind sir, that souse is the proper term in and of itself. I prefer "soak". "Bloom" should never be applied to soaps and when we say we "souse" it it seems we are simply being high handed and trying to sound much smarter than those who would say bloom. "Soak" the soap is simple, honorable, and clearly the correct term to use.

Actually I don't care, really, just wanted to see if I could start another epic, harmless debate.

    Thanks everybody.

So it looks like the consensus is using too much. I'll probably end up doing a focus on sticks myself. Just not while I'm learning the open blade.

Straight shaving is the best teacher of angles and pressure control. It's just way too easy to bleed out if you mess that up. So, when returning to the DE you are set up for some great and effortless shaves from that training. Same thing happened to me. And, I have the same feeling that you have that it seems impossible to ever cut myself with a DE now. However, I won't say it won't happen just so I DON'T curse myself.

Neal, The Cartel is continually amazing me with its abilities and capabilites!

When I hear the word "souse" I think of souse meat---aka hog head cheese.

    Thank you.

    You're welcome Andrew.

    Time and patience will prevail.

We could send Natalia over to help you out with the shavette. She may even bring you a few tucks of Russian steel.

    You're welcome Joseph.

    Great tip Perry.
    Never say never .

Doesn't take long to narrow it down to blade , angle or grip. When i first tried the shavette i was nervous but the lads on here guided me down the path to success.
Few scrapes and nicks later and i got the hang of it. Good thing too cause i'm allergic to band aids .

I think of Fuzzy standing beside a pile of bricks holding one in each hand waiting for someone to commit the ultimate sin.

No Natalia needs to stay where she is. No shavettes or Russian Steel allowed on the homestead. ;)
