Wow, I step away from the thread for a few days as other things intervene, and when I look back in, I am 1400 posts behind! I am never catching up so I will just dive back in here.

Two shaves since last Thursday -- Saturday evening and Monday morning:
Weishi TTO / Personna Lab Blue (4 and 5)
    Omega S-Brush
B+M Tuesday lavender and violet soap
Alum and TSD Lavender or Vanilla milk aftershave

    IMG_20190101_094935_kindlephoto-1321513769.jpg

Both the same setup with the only difference being the scent of the aftershave. Also I bowl lathered on Saturday and face lathered on Monday. Both good shaves - I now have the amount of water in the lather properly figured out.

The Weishi is alright as a razor but not my favourite. The vintage Gillettes just feel more solid in the hand. I have given the Weishi a try for a week; time to move on to a razor I like better.

I agree, Randy. After shaving for an extended period of time with my (now gone from the den) Feather AC SS kamisori, my DE shaves became much better. Open blade shaving really does help you develop solid technique. I hope your chin heals quickly so that you can return to your shavette focus, and I hope things are calming down for you at work.

I recommend soaking/sousing/blooming/dissolving/eradicating a puck of Williams in 20 gallons of hot water overnight. In the morning, splash on some souse water, add a little TOBS as required for your lather, and shave as normal. It seems to work great for me. Left over souse water can be used for...ummmm...well, there's actually no good use for it, so I recommend pouring it in the neighbor's yard.

Neal, I'm sorry you're not feeling well and hope you recover quickly. Great shave tonight. I would have skipped the shavette also.

What's on the way from the old country? Thanks to you, I'll lose sleep tonight regarding my low blade inventory. I'm down to about 2600 blades. That's barely a cubic foot of Russian and Japanese steel. :scared011:

@NCoxSTL, you might want to slowly incorporate some seafood into your diet today. It's the next step up from toast.

    Soap: PAA Sangre de Drago

    Good morning!

I'm noticing slight progress each day with the shavette. Two passes this morning before finishing up with the Rex. I did knick the underside of my nose on pass two with the IBC. It didn't bleed but it is there. I felt it the instant I did it.

    Have a great day! [IMG]
