I'm tempted to dig in my stash. I think the Nazareth LP is next to the Thin Lizzy. That was a great double bill. Might have been 1978 or '79.

I love reading the success stories around here. Just further proof that the Rule and Focus work and that Technique is the key to any style razor. Also love the brush. Nice that you could restore something from your Dad and put it to good use. Very nice shave overall.

Your left hand sounds like mine. When I first started with pain sticks I stayed with a right hand only grip and claimed I was honoring the Japanese style of using only one side of a kamisori. Well, partly true, but also partly true that it took a lot of effort and practice to get my left hand to be able to handle the razor without slicing my throat open. Time and practice. Very nice report, by the way.....but that "adult content" sign appeared at just the wrong moment. I never catch a break.

I won't argue with that lineup of blades. After the Moscow blades, the St. Pete's are the next on my list of all blades I've ever tried. My first ever order of 100 blades was Astra SP. That is still my head shave blade when using a DE. I actually have 115 of them in bulk at the moment. I've considered adding a 100 buy of PermaSharp as it is one of the best out of St. Pete. As for the Nacets - while they are without question one of the best blades from the Russian Gillettes they are basically the same as Ladas from Moscow. So, I keep a few around to switch out. I have about 50 Polsilvers as well but rarely load one. No reason, really, other than I just tend to forget they're there.

I looked on the Stirling site, P-a-P may be discontinued? Wanted to confirm it's a sheep soap. Got a wonderfully smooth creamy lather with the APShaveCo Tuxedo knot. Took first two passes with the open blade, then two on the open comb. Still had lather in the bowl so I kept shaving. No nicks or burn and I can't find any remaining stubble so I'll claim a not often boasted BBS. Similar accords in the soap and Old Spice so I used a little AS and a little more cologne.

Port au Prince was indeed sheep - or is indeed sheep - not sure if it's discontinued or just on hiatus for the winter. I know he's working on adding more scents in the mutton tallow. That will definitely cause another expansion of soap in my den.

Sorry I dropped off the radar since Monday. This week has been hectic, to say the least. I would like to offer some free advice for anyone hiring a general contractor to work on thier home:
    1) Ensure the contract has a timeline, milestones, and penalties if the milestones are not met.
    2) Ensure the contract requires that all invoices from vendors and subcontractors be shared with you, along with proof they have been paid within a set timeline.
    3) Include a liability waiver in the contract, so vendors and subs can not place a lien on your home if they don’t get paid by the GC.

It’s been a week. My family and I should be fine, but are scrambling to figure out what needs to be done to keep our house, and make the banks and those owed money happy. Well, not happy really, more like less unhappy. To top it off, I seem to be getting a cold.

This. Once I jumped into straights, I started loving aggressive razors with lots of blade feel, and because I developed a feel for the blade, I found that transferred to DE as well. It’s a deep rabbit hole, but it’s pretty fun.

Unbelievable. I take it you had no clue this was coming, either. I know we are all so spread out, but if there is anything any of us can do...

I just realized I posted a little earlier that you needed to hurry up and get your renos done- truly sorry about the horrible timing.:(

My older brother got me hooked on Nazareth . I was around 7- 8 years old singing " my white bicycle " at the top of my lungs wearing those huge headphones. Must have sounded good to the neighborhood dogs.

Thanks Neal . I asked Kensurfs a question about that brush and he sent me over to the Shave Den. Almost a year later I'm a way more knowledgeable, and ecstatic about being a slave to carts and goo. My Dad would be proud.

I agree, good times, less stress and no cellphones at concerts.

I just whistled the old spice jingle.

Nice straight Keith. I see you're a Proraso man also.
