Shaving is like being a kid. I wasn't satisfied until I got the 64-pack of Crayolas with the built-in sharpener. What self-respecting kid would be happy with the 8-pack? :sad024:

And now I find out that I missed the boat on vintage crayola collecting! :angry032:

Course when you get to Boston "phenomena" becomes "phenomener". I'm sure Mr. Scraper would leave some Clubman for me. :)

A picture is worth a thousand words. Technically, this is how soap works.

Y'know thjis makes sense now....I didn't like the "green&white" decal on the bottle anyway. The original and the 12.5 have the green, tan and red with Doc Pinaud's black tux. The 16 was one of those "Gee, let's try THIS and see what happens". It didn't happen for me. But I still love Clubman overall, of course. :)

    Pre-shave: Stirling Mentholated
    Soap: PdP No. 63

    Good morning!

Complete shave with the IBC today. Two pass with touch up. DFS maybe, maybe not but close to it. One weeper on my left jaw going ATG which is chin to ear. A little warmth from the alum on my left jaw but not bad.

    Have a great day!

Jim, congrats on your first full shave with the IBC. You have made tremendous progress in just a few shaves. Just awesome! Very cool photo, as usual, this morning. IBC should snag this one for their website. :)

    AoS Oud~~Declaration Grooming B5~~Wade & Butcher 5/8~~'56 Super-Speed~~Nacet~~OS Leather
    And we're off...

My new journey began today with a complete pass using a straight razor. I chose the Wade & Butcher 5/8
so generously included with my raffle prize from @Paul76
I have to say that it was successful, seeing as I did not cut myself, nor cause any irritation or redness.
I did a downward pass on the left and right sides, including my neck using both hands.
My chin and upper lip are occupied, so they are not coming into play at this time.
I ran into some difficulty trying shave along my goatee, so I used the opposite hands to get the blade
into the correct position. That was strangely intuitive.
I also discovered that AoS Oud is NOT nearly
slick enough. The blade dragged a bit.
It maybe user error, I will go for a thinner, waterier
    lather next time.
Since I am so inexperienced at this, it's difficult to judge what is drag and what is, perhaps
tentativeness on my part of the stroke. :signs002:

Another issue was getting a good view of the right side of my face in the mirror. My hand was blocking my view.
I used some alum to facilitate skin stretching, but I have the sneaking suspicion, that with practice,
making shaving faces might prove sufficient. We'll see.

Passes two and three were done with the '56 Super-Speed/Nacet combination.
Interestingly, the soap was slick enough...:signs002:
    Alum was silent afterwards. :happy036:
Inspired by @RyX I finished with a healthy splash of Old Spice Leather AS.
    Onward and upward...:happy088:

That's wonderful, Joseph! Congrats on your first outing. I haven't had the courage (or skill or craziness) to try my neck with a straight yet, so I respect your first try immensely. Onward and upward from here, as you say.
