A no shave day today, and I skipped church to work on my upstairs deck. Only 3 years old, and some of the gavenized screws holding down the composite decking are rusting. I ponied up for stainless ones, and started replacing them. A few hours in I discovered that the pressure treated lumber holding up the deck has rotted in some sections. This project just got a lot bigger and a lot more expensive. I am not a happy camper.

My grandmother would make home made Playdough for us as little kids. One of the ingredients was alum. It was supposed to keep us from eating the flour & oil toy.

First car I owned, a '67 Plymouth Fury III equipped with a 383 cu.in. 4 bbl, did just that! Like sitting on your living room couch except for the waterbed on tennis balls slack in the steering.
I was young.

Since you claim membership, I will chime in, too. Home schooled our four kids for a good portion of their educations. Their mom was English & History. I did Science, Math, & Art. During that time I was production manager in a wood work shop. The boss preferred to hire folks with no experience in the field. Didn't have to untrain them from bad habits picked up elsewhere.

These days I'm enjoying my second generation of kids in the house. Except for this drivel they call Math. Not sure why there are eight different ways to add/subtract a couple two digit numbers. Can't wait to see how Common Core complicates multiplication & division.

I performed two passes and a few touch ups on two days of growth. Everything fell into place for a nice, close shave. Nary a drop of blood was spilt, and no otters were harmed during the shave. The Lord DE blade is not as smooth as the Rapira in the shavette, but it performs fine nonetheless. As @Bama Samurai has said and I am discovering, blades don't seem to matter as much in a shavette.

As predicted, the snow from Friday night has melted. It's overcast and cold here in the Commonwealth today. I hope everyone has had a restful weekend!

Last big car was a 1980 Impala 4 door.
Put a 1970, 350 4bm, holly 4bbl hi rise intake with 1974 .194 heads, tight liftr springs, dome pistons, high speed cam....
Tore out 2 transmitions and a rear end with that build.
I like big toque nowdays
Oh well....

Wonderful, Chris! I never knew that.

We had an intermittent roof leak that would leak from the bathroom exhaust fan, but only in a very hard or blowing rain. Finally got a guy to come look at it last week. It's a much more involved leak than what was showing. We are going to have to re-roof an entire section that's stained and molding on the plywood decking. We have a tarp over that area right now. Always something.

I'm sorry to hear of your roof leak. Our first house had a difficult-to-diagnose leak around the chimney. Hard rains caused water spots on the ceiling and drips onto the fireplace mantel in the family room. I thought it was the flashing, but it turned out to be super absorbent chimney bricks. We sealed the chimney bricks, and the leak stopped. Our current place has a small crack in an upstairs dormer window frame, causing water spots to appear on a wall and ceiling in the bedroom below. We had the siding and flashing removed and replaced before we figured out the window frame needed to be sealed up. We also had an HVAC drain line running in the attic that leaked, causing some water spots in several strange places. That was hard to figure out as well. You are right, it's always something, and water leaks are especially frustrating.

Life has been busy as of late. I've had several shaves, but haven't gotten around to posting any. I did skip yesterday, so today's shave had a couple of days of growth. I broke out the Vanta, and it was smooth and easy. My kids came in towards the end, so I rushed just a bit and just missed a BBS on a couple of spots on my jaw line. All in all, it was a great shave. I hope everyone has been doing well.
