Thank you, Clint. Oddly I don't have many pictures of it. My wife took this one when I had it in a little car show by the house.

I use Thayers unscented witch hazel with aloe after each shave before applying any aftershave. That likely prevents drying as well.

I do as well, Clint. I do try to list it each day as well in my ‘product list’ too. Use unscented or original. I have also been using CL, Jeeves and Barrister’s Reserve splashes a lot lately as well, and they all have lots of good skin stuff (that is a technical term...) in them as well that may not be emulated in the SV. I am going to Glycerin bomb the splashes as well. I think it was your tip a few years ago that got me starting that.
I should also point out that it is winter in the Canadian Rockies, that may have something to do with it....:). I just got back from the ski hill, and I’m sure if I shaved right now, I’d light up like a Christmas tree regardless of product.

    January Off Focus

    JoHS BoS 30DC SS
    B-400 WD HM badger
    Suribachi scuttle
'59 Gillette Fat Boy on 9
    Kai blade of unknown uses
    JoHS BoS 30DC AS
SOTD 01132019.gif Stepped down from my Focus to avoid any nicks for today's shave. Details below if anyone reads that far. In celebration of Jeeves January I used my favorite of the two in my den. The Rubberset 400 clone by Tom @twhite fitted with a knot sent to me by our Clint @clint64 couldn't help buy lather well. As much as I enjoy a cool lather during normal weather I'm liking some warmed up this winter. The Gillette on max setting with a sharp blade did what it does so well - error free close reduction in three passes. With plenty of suds still in the bowl, I couldn't help myself so I did the customary clean up that nets a DFS or better. Going out to see some family at Cici's pizza this evening so nicking myself with the shavette didn't fit the plan. Celebrating the twin grand daughters 8th B-day that falls on a school night tomorrow. My daughter had the forethought to deliver them the day after my 50th anniversary around the sun. Makes it easy for me to do the math. No one reads this far into my posts. Blah blah balderdash codswallop falderal twaddle words.
    Good Shaves Y'all!

Jason, I really enjoy my 30DC brush. Thanks again.

I'm a bit fuzzy on details, but I recall something about @mrchick making an LE brush from antler, ivory, or hyper pure polycrystalline silicon. :)
    Thanks Clint. You too!

No need to thank me again, Charlie. I have been thanked profusely by the folks on here. I keep saying how fun it was, and folks don’t believe me. Brian @mrchick will find that out soon.
So many new folks who are regulars here now, I think later this spring will be a good time for another LE run.

    Stunning shot again, Doug!
Great progress, Rob! I like to put the Thayer’s into a spritzer type bottle- It seems to be a great way to get it on my face without lugging out the big bottle every day.
Fantastic Rick Pic! One of your best. And, yes, I did read that far into your post, and happy B-day to the twins!

hello fello shavers, my british service flat bottom tech razor arrived on friday,so i thought i would give it a test drive.it is what i think my grandad would have used during ww2.. possibly..no real way to confirm unfortunately..its plating is a little bare but i may replate it at some point.not worried about a value decrease, only valuable to me ..loaded the rr badger with crabtree and evelyn west indian lime and built a nice lather, loaded the tech with a gsb and got an awesome 3 pass dfs shave.. the razor felt a touch different than the other flat bottoms i have..there are more pronounced ridges on the baseplate guard compared to my others, either way a great shave and will continue collecting these fine workhorses..a touch of c and e balm and cologne to finish..awesome..have a great day.. gary 20190113_131005.jpg 20190112_001334.jpg

I'm sorry to hear this, Randy. I hope the repair goes more smoothly than expected. You were fortunate to identify the problem before the deck became unsafe.

In a previous life, I coordinated a company-sponsored middle school math mentoring program for a few years and also served as a mentor. Some years, we had ~20 volunteers working with ~40 students each week. We also hosted students and teachers at our place of work to show them how math skills were used in the "real world." I also managed community donations from the facility where I worked for about 10 years. We supported a lot of STEM education projects during that time. I have much respect for educators - mine (for making a huge difference in my life) as well as those I encountered during my working years.

I am convinced that there's a place for anyone that wants to volunteer and make a difference with kids. :)

I just read the ingredient list on the aftershave. It seems it already has some glycerin in the mix. Oh well, now it has more. Most of my aftershaves are from Fine and have nothing added for skin care.
