    IMHO if you can shave with a shavette you can shave with almost any razor. I started with DE razors then tried a Parker shavette and gave myself a nasty cut and put it away, later I started with straights and then finally back to shavetes. I prefer the Parker SRX and Feather DX. Even now I shavette require even more concentration than when I shave with a straight. I tend to take a shavette when I travel or use them just for the challenge.

    I am with you, whatever floats your boat to a better and more enjoyable shave. Now I can get a great shave with a DE, SE or straight(includes shavette). I just enjoy traditional straight more than the other razors, plus the look cool.

    I forgot to add an invitation to our Mayhem event. In May 30DC members will shave all manner of ill-suited and ill-advised shaving implements. Popsicle sticks are popular but someone decided to just attach a DE blade to twig and then to meet the challenges other just tapped DE bladed to their fingers. I think you are an ideal candidate.

    That is a nice straight razor! I love the Dovo straights. I own two 5/8 full hollow razors. I have the Best Quality and the Special. Oh, I might add my Dovo shavette. Lol!

    Very cool, Danny. Your friend is off to a great start. The Slim loaded with a Voskie is a winner. Good idea to have him start with Barbasol, but wait until he gets a brush and a good soap. He'll be hooked for sure then. You'll get extra cookies from the Cartel if you get him to join the 30DC. (West Coast Shaving is selling 10049 Omega boar brushes for $9 with free shipping. That's a terrific deal.)

    I helped a couple of coworkers and a couple of friends get started with DE shaving. I gifted another couple of guys at work some shaving goodies to help fuel their interest. It's a lot of fun to introduce others to this great hobby.
