Nice, Andrew! I'm hoping a Tuesday shave doesn't mean we miss our hump day pictures?

Thanks Jim, I have been trying daily shaving on the week days. An SAS shave with a straight means there will be plenty to shave off tomorrow morning as well.

    Day 11.

Same as yesterday. Two passes with the straight. Left hand got equal time. I will wait until the left hand gets a little more familiar before I move on. It's getting there.

And in true shaving product form, that tube of Brutal Classic still has another shave left in it.

Thank you John and Andrew. I will be fine in the end. I'm fairly confident I can avoid the surgery. Just a lot of painful PT but I have been there before.

Maya has decided to have surgery during spring break and return to University on crutches for the remainder of the semester. She has already talked with her professors and the staff. Fortunately, the University of KY has services to help students with such issues get around. Maya is a tough and stubborn young lady and refuses to take the semester off to recover. I am not sure where she learned to be stubborn. ;)

Does replying to yourself count as "you really need to get a life" time? Well, we knew that already. Just an update as I've had time to play around with gear a bit today. I did try the JunJie handle on the Rapira head. It does fit.....but the result is the same. No discernable difference in how the blade looks. So, I tried switching baseplates from the Gillette cheapo to the Rapira with both the Rapira and JunJie handles. It doesn't work. The Gillette cap is a bit narrower than the Rapira so the baseplates don't line up and work right. So, I did the obvious simple fix attempt and put the Rapira back together.....checked the blade view (by the way they are a bit uneven between sides) and then simply turned the baseplate around to see if the blade position changed sides. Nope. No difference.

I did notice that the divot in the Rapira baseplate is a bit deeper than in the Gillette, meaning the "hump" under the baseplate that the handle screws up against is a bit thicker. That could explain some, but not sure since I can't get the Gillette baseplate to work. It's a theory though.

One other thought on this whole discussion/exploration - it is entirely possible, probably and likely to be expected that quality control at the factory making these el-cheapo razors isn't exactly state of the art. We might find differences between two given Rapira razors, much less between two different brands.

Actually, I thought you had more brushes than that, Andrew! I seem to recall a number of new CH2s,Yaqis and Paladins showing up in your pics.
I have the razors and brushes out in the open on a nice rack. The soaps and splashes I keep tucked away to avoid conversation...;)
Great line, Clint! Haven't heard that one before. Did hear 'My body must be a temple, I look like Buddha'...
Is that a new artisan, Andrew? I haven't seen or heard of them, I don't believe. 'Smells exactly like Florida Water' is a very good thing.
    I don't see a problem...:eatdrink047:

Looking at the pic I recall the excellent deal you got on those Joris razors, Chris!
...or 3! They never die easily, Robert!

Agreed. The cheap Chinese three-piece razors seem to be something of a race to the bottom in terms of quality and quality control. A while back, I picked up the latest cheapie from the local "One Dollar Zone!" store; it was the typical Star DE clone (three-piece, three post with notches) but made with the absolute cheapest metal. The gap looked horrible until I realized that the baseplate was so thin that I could put it on the desk and press down to bend it into a more agreeable dimension. I still won't shave with it, however, as I have my limits.
