Cedar is softer and lighter than Cypress, Rick. Cedar is a beautiful wood that grows very plentifully here in parts of British Columbia. I wouldn’t think it would be very good for handles, although it is very hardy wood. Bowls might be a good idea with it. Cypress is much more exotic for us here!
I still have a chunk of the Cypress you sent me, enough for one more handle. It will be a very special handle when I decide what is appropriate to use it for, indeed.

Wonderful photo and setup again, Clint! Was the bowl actually used for lathering today, or just used as a prop?

Thank you Bruce. The bowls are almost always props. I tried bowl lathering earlier this month for the first time in 4 years. It’s likely to be another 4 years for the next try.

Yes. Let the weekend begin. Charlie’s bourbon tour inspired me. I stopped by and picked up a bottle of 1792 on the way home.

A Rubberset 400 (especially if I can get it in that shape) is at the top of my ‘in the wild’ list, Joseph. One day I will come across one in a small town antique shop somewhere at an attainable price and I will feel complete...at least for a few days until the Floating Head assumes its place atop that list with the Rubberset crossed off...or a ‘34 OC Aristocrat...ok, I guess there will always be a list.:scared003:

So I haven't been on from page 120 to page 208. What did I miss?

Things are going as well as can be expected here. We got most of the remaining projects on the house done, with three big projects left to do. (HVAC, Fireplace, and a trap door to the crawl space.) Finally moved into the new bathroom.

Mrs. Gulch told me there was no way I would need more than two 22x24 inch shelves in the cabinet. She later asked if I remembered all those pictures I had shown her of other people's shave dens with way too much stuff, and commented how I wasn't so bad. She said not to do that again.

I'll get my three shaves this week posted. Russian blade, and three DE razors, two American brands, and one Russian.

I also got my Schrodinger's Razor package. It simultaneously is and is not a razor, until I open the shadow box. The razor is a JBF Champlin & Sons. This company was from Little Valley, NY, and predates Cattarangus, Platts, all of the Case Family Brands, and Western States Cutlery. JBF Champlin was also related to the families that started all those companies. So as long as I don't open it, it is wall art, and my NB19 is intact. Shout out to @NCoxSTL for helping me perfect that logic before I pitched it to my wife. She reluctantly agreed.

I think it makes your face smell nice while you make a lather. Doesn't affect the shave.
