After you get your honing stones, go on YouTube and view the many videos there are on honing a straight razor. They're all good, but the ones I liked the most were the videos by Lynn Abrams. Good luck with your honing.

    Razor: Blackland Sabre L2
    Blade: Gem PTFE (2)
    Brush: PAA Starcraft
    Pre-shave: Stirling Mentholated
    Soap: Soap Commander Wisdom
    PAA Star Jelly unscented
    AS: Fine Lavender Pour Homme

    Good morning!

Another excellent shave provided by the Sabre L2! Three passes to BBS results. Faint tickle from the alum on my neck. I wasn't too sure about the Sabre at first. Close irritation free shaves weren't the problem, it didn't feel as smooth as my other razors. I have found riding the cap on the Sabre is a must for smooth shaves, for me anyway. That and palm stropping the fresh blade before its first use, per @clint64 suggestion.

SC Wisdom and Fine Lavender Pour Homme are a wonderful pairing.

Have a great day my friends!

We've all had those moments Randy. Hopefully you'll get it righted before the CT happens. ;)
Thanks Bruce! It's one I've like the looks of but hadn't shopped yet. They are surprisingly inexpensive. Yaqi & Chinese manufacturing are woke to the Shave Renaissance.

Well, I received my package from WCS yesterday containing two tubs of Stirling Soap, Bay Rum and Barbershop. The scents are very nice, Barbershop being more subtle than Bay Rum (a scent I'm very partial to). Barbershop has some bay rum in it, but there are other scents blended in, which makes for an aroma very reminiscent of the old-time barbershops of my youth (Yoot, if you're a Joe Pesci fan). Now, for the performance trial. I used Barbershop for no other reason than I was curious to see how the mild scent held up to use. It did, very subtle, but it held up (Wifey really likes it!). It loads the brush very well and shaves really well (BBS without really trying). My normal three passes on the neck and two on each cheek were very comfortable on two-day growth and left no irritation on the skin. My overall conclusion? Excellent soap, especially for the price ($12.95 + free shipping!) Can't beat that!

    Haha. Same here Charlie

My German shepherd loves the snow too. Shes 10 now and still hyper as ever . Wears me out sometimes.

    Outstanding Clint!

Haha Aaron, nothing wrong with shaving on the cheap. Somehow ive kept my SE count to 3 . A 1912 brit , a FW gifted by Fuzzy and a bullet tip from Chris@ bama samurai. Then Fuzzy got talking to me about injectors......thats a whole other story. I do keep a supply of Williams on hand though. Great shave and have a great day.
