    20th focus shave

I enjoyed a fantastic three-pass shave on this frigid Kentucky day. I normally stop at two passes, but I performed a third XTG pass because I was having so much fun. XTG passes on my cheeks prove to be the most challenging for me, but I took my time, stretched and contorted the mug, and it went fine. The Rapira blade is super smooth in the shavette, and good old JR # 160 worked up a mountain of slick SC lather. The alum was nearly silent after all was said and done. I finished with Clubman, admired the results, and declared victory. I was definitely in the zone on this 20th shave of my focus. I'm encouraged by my fellow 30DC Dark Siders making the journey this month along with me.

Have a restful Sunday, and stay warm!

Beautiful, mine looked like old tarnished copper much worse than yours. I put the shine on it and it aint to bad now. To bad they take special blades. I need to make a shim for it to use standard blades like you did.

That sounds great, Paul. I'll look for it. I hope you're having a great Sunday shaving and chasing your kitty around the apartment. :)

Welcome back to the Safety Razor world, we left the light on for ya... All jokes aside, I’m sure you’ll get the Straight dialed in when you get your honing equipment in, Joseph. You are approaching it with zeal and a positive attitude, and I’m sure it will just be a matter of time until you master the honing and stropping processes.
Very nice colours, Jim. The knot in that PAA brush looks just like the APShaveCo SilkSmoke and one that Maggards has as well in the same colours. I wonder if they are ALL from Yaqi?
Love the look of that GB service razor, Gary. Great score!
I just passed 4000 posts as well. I joined a month before you did, so it looks like we’re posting right at about the same rate and have done our part to keep the ‘chatty knitting club’ moving north of a Glacial pace...:)
Awesome looking King, Terry! Right down to the original instructions. Very Cool.
The hinge on those razors reminds me of the Cooper MonoBilt, fwiw.

Not much chasing thush far-she loves to go in between the mattress and the "bedspring" of my bed. Somehow she can manage her way out. It's great when she sits on my lap, though :).

Another stunning shot, Clint. Love the colours in the handle and soap tub with the pine needles. Put that one on the calendar.
I have found myself using sythetics more and more, so I suppose I really should pick up one of those CH2 that seem to be so well regarded. I wish I could just get the knot. The different coloured handles look so nice, but I have come to realize I don’t want to pay big bucks for someone else’s handles. That may sound a little arrogant and/or cheap -it wasn’t intended as either- but I do like making my own.
If you enjoyed it, Aaron, it doesn’t matter what you paid. Sounds like a great shave.
Sounds like an awesome shave, Charlie! Stay warm today. Ironically, we were above freezing yesterday in the Canadian Rockies and you are colder in the US Southeast.

I will always continue to use a DE, Jason. They are really cool and I love the nostalgia behind them. The SR challenge is simply another outlet for my obsessive-compulsive disorder...:happy108:

Thank you Jason. If I made handles as nice as you i would feel the same way. Take a look on the BST threads for the CH 2 synthetic brushes. You’ll see them at some very good prices.

Not sure about Yaqi supplying knots. I have a mew brown synthetic Yaqi on it's way from China and a tuxedo knot in Jayaruh handle that should arrive Tuesday.
    Thank you, Patrick.
