Nice work. The case looks great too. That handle looks longer than the standard tuckaway handle. Is it or just the pic?

It is indeed a standard tuckaway handle. It must be the picture.

Chris did a beautiful replate on my Double Ring. There is a waiting period but it was worth the wait for me since I preferred knowing that he processes fewer razors and would give mine (my turn) the best care.

I just dropped off 3 razors to a local plating shop to see if I can save some $$$. He’s charging me $65 total. I wanted to get a small sampling of each type of plating he has. The exception being silver as I forgot my silver French Aristocrat OC that has moderate plate wear on the handle. Here are the razors I dropped off. I forgot to take before pics but I’ll definitely take after. I’m hoping this goes well. He stated if I liked them and depending how many more I got, the cost would be less. I got A LOT of razor I can plate. I’m nervous and excited at the same time. The only thing he can’t do is pot metal. I did get a quote from another plate shop that would do pot meta but he only does nickel plating and for 5 razors he said more or less $100.

    1. Gillette English no 66 - Rhodium
    - head looked great but the handle had heavy plate loss.
    2. Gillette Aristocrat (V3) - gold 10 microns
    - head completely void of gold, handle looked good
    3. Gillette English NEW OC - nickel
    - handle down to brass and moderate plate loss on the head.

I'm shipping a Bulldog to Backroads for crack repair & rhodium. If he's as good as the reviews, I've got a boxed '34 Aristocrat to follow, in gold.

Here are my razors back from being plated. They are not perfect but I paid 1/3 of what some charge and a fraction of what R.E. Charges. So at a cost of $22 each I’m happy with the outcome.
Here is the no 66 when I got it

Now here is the English New OC .
This razor had pretty no plating left on the handle and the head was worn

I have had four or five different razors done by Chris Evatt (Razorplate). He has always done a first class job and is excellent to deal with. As for pricing you can check his website and contact him about your replating choices and needs. Here is an example of a NEW Long Comb he did for me in bright nickel. I think it was worth it to me.

Here are pics of the 4. He is redoing the gold no 21.
Again for $20 each I’m getting what I paid for and these are definitely not perfect but waaay better than they were. He’s not detailed orientated. I have to do some polishing myself.

I've re-plated a Big Fellow, a New Standard, the razor from a #77 set, a gold Aristocrat etc. I've been away for awhile so do not know who's the go-to guy for re-plating. I did however, have an experience a number of years ago with RE and won't use them again. I imagine they've improved but once was enough.
Now, you should re-plate, in my mind, if you really like your razor(s) and want to have an almost new razor again. If you pass them down, it makes for a nicer gift, if you go to sell them, it increases their value in a lot of people's minds.
