    Tuesday noon January 22 - clean-up shave

Gillette Black Beauty refurbished by Delta Echo, on setting 4 / Sharp Star (1)
    Alluminati Envy White badger brush
Jeeves Key Lime sample in TSD shave stick holder
Alum and Jeeves Key Lime splash

My last shave was Friday night, so I had 3 1/2 days stubble to clean off. That gave plenty of roughness for the shave stick to rub against. The badger brush whipped it into a fine lather while giving that lovely pillowy badger experience. Then the Sharp Star lived up to its name as it turned me back from a hobo to a cleanshaven gentleman again in two easy passes. The Jeeves Key Lime both smells good and provides excellent skincare.

I think I will finish out Jeeves January using this combination of gear.

Hope everyone is having a decent week.

Speaking for the Cartel I can tell you how much we appreciate your hanging around! You have always added something to this thread. Sometimes knowledge, sometimes shenanigans, sometimes incredibly well thought out and built MAYhem shaving devices. What you said, though, about newbies and questions - my favorite part of herding the cats around here. So many places on the web when newbies ask for help they get the "read the FAQ!" or "do a search and don't bother us" response. This is a different kind of place which helps explain why we continue to grow! Thanks for a great first year and I'm looking forward to another with you here!

This will be my toughest challenge. My hair grows every which way. Just remembering what to did last (was that WTG?) to which part of my face has been a challenge. I get impatient. Alas I know I must.

Thank you so much Neal. I would be lost without you guys . I really appreciate your kind words and the advice you've given me . I'm looking forward to MAYhem again and working on my next invention which will be married to Russian steel. I always wondered what all the fuss was about with these blades but now I'm a believer. Proud to be a member of the notorious Cartel as well.

Just trying to ascertain which of those products is 'The John Wayne Stuff'. If you mean the Veg, I am having a hard time reconciling that image...

    January - Shavettes and Jeeves!

    January 22

    Razor - Parker SRX Shavette
    Blade - [IMG] (2)
    Soap - Jeeves Bay Rum
    Brush - Jayaruh #54
    Post - Alum

As far as days off go, I'd have to say this was a good one. I spent a few hours with Lynn Abrams today. Got to see some awesome razors, talked shop about brushes, soaps, the entire wetshaving universe and business model, and he honed my Tosuke kamisori I received from Secret Santa. I enjoyed watching him get it shave ready and listening to him talk to the razor the whole time. Definitely a good time and productive as well. I'll be giving the kami a try in February if not before. I also have a number of the DVD he made..."Lynn Abrams World of Straight Razor Shaving". Anyone wanting to start with straight razors, or even some of the old-timers.....if you're interested in a copy I have some to give away. He asked me to help get them in the hands of people who need/want the information. He recorded it back in 2006 so it's an oldie, but I'm sure it's still a goodie. He has basically retired and I also loaded up a bunch of gear he was giving away that is going to a fellow member here. That was what actually brought us together, but we made the most of it.

Head shave night today and that was perfect and uneventful as always. I used the Merkur 23c and VDH soap with an Astra SP blade. I did a second shave with the Parker SRX and Shark blade. Jeeves Bay Rum to stay themed up all the way and the JR54 brush to nail the lather like a pro. Two good passes and some touch up and I'm close enough to BBS that I could call it that, but whatever the exact result it was a fine shave. No blood, no issues. I found the SRX very easy to handle tonight. Felt very natural in my hand. That's a good thing. I'm thinking I may switch to the Luxor tomorrow to give it a good side-by-side comparison.

Rainy and cold in the Lou. I think they're talking snow again this weekend. We seem to be stuck in the wrong pattern here. Hope you have a great Wednesday! It's my Monday so I'm ready to go.

Just finished a night shave. I find I greatly enjoy them, after a shower, and ultimately crawling into bed cleaned, aftershaved and balmed up. Very pleasant way to end the day.

Not the greatest shave. I decided not to use a hot washcloth. I shave after showering and usually do the cloth, but wanted to try it without. I not sure if that was the culprit, because I was also on day 3 of the Big Ben blade. Not sure it can handle 3 shaves properly.

Then again, I noticed my razor had soap residue on it today (on the bottom, plus a little on the cap). Maybe it was on the blade as well? How are you gents cleaning your razors? And how often?

    Anywho:
Merkur 34c with Big Ben (3)
    Proraso green pre-shave
Chisled Face Bay Run soap (sample)
    Alum and cold rinse
Clinique scruffing lotion (? Had it for years, finally started using it. First ingredient is witch hazel, so that’s basically what it is).
    Proraso red AS lotion
    Some Nivea ASB

Multiple passes. Kind of all over the place. Blade not doing much. A little irritation but no big deal. No cuts. All in all, I got pretty close and feel pampered and ready for bed! Just need to finish off this glass of Pinot. :happy108:

Nice shave. No blood is a good thing. If you're questioning the blade swap for a fresh one. As far as cleaning my razor, I just loosen the top cap and give the razor a good rinse and let it dry. Just don't forget to tighten it back up before your next shave. I wipe my razors down when I swap blades.

Love to see that Kamasuri in action Neal. Be tickled to read the comparison between Parker and Luxor Pro. Seems like you're getting a "handle" on the Parker . Another great report.

Smashmouth made some great tunes . This was a really good cover of the old Monkees original.
