Youre doing awesome. If i may add to Neal's advice , i use a toothbrush to clean when i loosen cap to get the buildup off the blade . Hope this helps .

I usually use a toothbrush to clean a razor when I change blades. I don't worry about much more than a quick wipe day to day. I never remove blades between shaves, but I do know some folks do.

Thank you Chris for you words of wisdom and patience when answering my daily barrage of questions back then. If I were a preacher, I'd give a sermon on technique trumping tools . This thread sure smoothed out the bumps on the road to enjoying my shaves and gave me the confidence to continue into the unknown and see the light at the end .

    Razor..Jillette P1 TTO
    Blade...Shaverboy
    Soap....Proraso green
    Brush ..Omega 10005 boar
    AS.......,,,Rockwell balm

To the best of my knowledge, this is the setup I started with out in my journey 1 year ago. Nervous and shaking I haphazardly made my way through 3 passes as the Proraso green assaulted my naustrils. I asked for suggestions as to blades , soap , how many passes, you name it I asked questions . And onward i proceeded for 30 days .
Fast forward 1 year... I lathered up and enjoyed the Proraso smell, wielding the "mild" P1 loaded with cheap Chinese steel for 3 passes without shaking, holding my breath, sweating, or mind racing. I crossed the threshold without the nicks or burning sensations I remembered from my maiden voyage. I was no longer a deckhand, but a captain on the SS Baby Dolphin.

It's always fun to recreate that first shave, or any early shave, and realize how far you've come in such a short time! Nice shave!

Thanks Neal. It amazes me too. Haven't used this razor in almost a year but the results were outstanding.

You and Clint @clint64 keep waving those new ProRaso creams under my nose. One of these days I'll fall victim to your product placement ads and buy some... :(
