Three days since my last shave. I have been waiting on some ordered gear to see what could be done with my SR's.
    Leather strop
final arrived along with a linen strop.
I have decided to work my way backwards towards a good edge. What I mean by that, first I have tried
leather stropping. Still does not pass the shave test.
Second, I created some CrOx paste and applied it to my linen strop.
    IMG_9163.jpeg

I think it should be thicker, but that's all of the product I received from Whipped Dog. I am ordering more paste.
I did more laps than is probably recommended on this strop, 30+
Then moved back to the leather strop. Noticeable improvement, but clearly can get a lot better.
Decided to shave with this razor as is. Three days growth removed in basically one downward pass and a
quick, against the goatee pass. Drew my first blood on my neck...why? Right as I was about to shave, my supervisor called and
asked me to be back at work in 15 minutes. Should have bagged the entire process, but I was curious.
Hence, a bit rushed on the left neck and a rough set-down made a minuscule cut. No biggy.
This razor is clearly sharper on one side over the other. So, my next move will be on a 12k stone.
I am going to work my way backwards, 8k, 4k, 1k, if needed. I have decided that this W&B is going to be my sacrificial lamb.

And I have no intentions on giving up until I have a firm grasp of the process.
Thank you to all, who have been so helpful and gracious on my journey.
    :thanks:

    Day 20.

Well, s**t. I was all set for another shave with the Ralf Aust, until it happened. I just finished stropping, and dropped it. Naturally, it hit some junk that shouldn't have been there instead of carpet. Put a nasty ding in the blade.:angry017: I'm going to have to send it off.

So, I called in the Dovo from the bench. I'd been wanting to give it a go soon. Just not under these circumstances. It's a Best Quality 6/8 that I picked up for about $65 in the waning days of straightrazordesigns.

I did the full three passes, then cleaned up with a Timor open comb DE. I didn't use the left hand too much. Wasn't in the mood for any more surprises. I guess I was expecting the 6/8 to feel more different than it did from the 5/8. But I was happy with the shave. And I polished off the sample of Stirling frankincense & myrrh.

    This was the planned setup.

Does it still smell like lavender? I would be inclined to use it if it does. Otherwise, I'd probably keep it as-is.

I'm still getting strong waves of the aftershave from this morning. Good longevity on the Fortitude scent. I don't recall the Honor aftershave lasting as long as Fortitude. Will see about that again tomorrow as Honor is next up.

Meanwhile, glad I'm inside teaching today since it's a rainy, windy day.

If you don't use it who will? If you leave it unused till the day you die what are the chances that someone who would appreciate it and use it would actually get it. I feel the same way about NOS razors.
That's a bummer! glad you had a nice backup!

Same here. I prefer an evening shave for no time pressure and a nice wind down. Waking in the morning to the smell of my pillow scented with yesterday's aftershave is pleasant!

Ohh, subtle Enabling Gary! How many of the new scents have you tried? Don't know if I'll hold off until they release it in tubs. Blue is still tubed.

That's an encouraging endorsement Danny. I haven't tried RazoRock Blue WTP, and I'm already thinking about the M&M...

    Nothing wrong with Fancy Pants.

I'd be tempted. Besides, the hotel already has a case of those tucked away. Don't worry, they'll bill you.

Good move loading from the bottom Gary! Hope it's the best vintage soap you ever tried.

Charlie @wristwatchb - We really need to convene a CT conference. Too many bottom loading fancy pants opportunities slipping by. ;)

Nice photo and shave Joseph! A W&B is an awfully nice razor to be a sacrificial lamb :scared003:. I've got a $6 Gold Dollar that's already been beat-up on the stones if you really want a sacrifice.

Yes....as I wrote earlier, I had 4 sample aftershaves-1907, 1911, Heartwood, and...can't remember the other. Favorites were 1911 and Heartwood. This was back in Feb, 2016(I wouldn't have remembered the order date except when I "re-registered", the order record was there).
