Second shave with this razor was much better, even with a 3 day growth.

Doesn’t sing as sweetly as a full length 14 but it does seem more nimble... I like.

Things were tough this morning. Cold water shower and shave. Don't mind the cold water shave but a cold shower not so good. To many women in the house. I had to leave town for a day or two and go to Billings, MT. 500 miles of icy roads. Anyway, great shave this morning.

My arrival home yesterday coincided with the arrival of my first Damascus straight. It only provided a DFS today, as it could stand to be a lot sharper, but hopefully that shouldn’t be hard to achieve. Regardless, since this has been a week of fancy pants shaves out of the fancy pants soap dish at my fancy pants convention hotel, I decided it was the day to shave with some of my classiest gear at home to help make my transition back to the real world a bit less bumpy.

Thanks! I was very excited to find it reasonably priced on a BST, and snapped it up the moment I saw it.

By the way, where are you located? My brother in law is on Bozeman, and it’s beautiful country out there.

Catching up gents, day before yesterday was a shave to test the new tallow-first version of D. R. Harris hard soaps. The re-formulation seems to be to reduce the palm oil content in the soaps. Both are lavender and each was lathered with a Chubby 1 Super Badger. Each side of my face got its own version!

BTW, the first 9 ingredients of the new Harris are the same and in the same order as the new Cyril Salter hard soap. If you ‘throw out’ the limolene in spot #10 on the new Harris ingredient list, the first 12 are the same and in the same order. The Salter soap is around $8 for 100g and is a very good buy - the Salter scent is a nice sweet English lavender.

The new sodium tallowate first version seems a tiny bit better than the old, but the difference is not large. The razor was a CVH MK33 and the AS (not shown, I was running out of room in the light box) was Thayers Lavender.

    Cheers, Steve

Yesterday was a user grade Filly 14 and a Rooney 3/2 lathered MdC rose. AS was Thayer’s rose petal.

This morning was the MK33 and the soap was MdC Vetyver lathered with a 3-band Lotus style brush from life2short1971 and Harris Pink finished it up.

    Cheers, Steve

Gator, I'm from North Dakota but had to go to Billings Mt. My wife's Aunt had a major surgery and it's about time for the nursing home but that ain't gonna happen. Very independent woman. I'm headed to the largest antique mall in Montana this afternoon.

ALE, a Canadian blade maker near Montreal. I wasn’t previously familiar with him/them, but it’s a gorgeous razor.
