I remember you were stating that you were unsure about SR shaving. How about now?

    Thank you, Clint.
Thank you, Patrick. Sometimes they write themselves.:)
Thanks Chris. I was just thinking which DE's I will sell and which one's I'll keep. Keeping the Fatboy, for sure, Ranger Tech, Feather AS-D2, '38 Senator, '08 Old Type and my 2011 R41. Everything else is gonna go.

I have indeed re-thunk my shaving future. SR shaving is quite addicting.

Oh ok...thanks...makes sense now. My dad was a pipe-smoker, and being around him when he smoked never bothered me.

As much as Wool Fat Friday, if those that have some wish to make it. ;)

Yesterday I asked my three grandkids what they wanted for supper.
    #1 - Pancakes!
    #2 - Eggs & Bacon!
    #3 - Pancakes & Eggs!
    #1 - ...And Bacon!
So for supper I had eggs, bacon, & pancakes.

Cavendish is a way of preparing tobacco leaf. Depending on the variety used it may have added sugars, then steamed, and pressed. There will be a sweetness to the finished product. And I think I'll load my pipe! A blend of Natural Cavendish and Black Cavendish

    January - Shavettes and Jeeves!

    January 25

    Razor - Magic Shavette
    Blade - perma-sharp-jpg.jpg (1)
    Soap - Jeeves Bay Rum
    Brush - Stirling 24mm Badger
    Post - Alum

One more shavette in my arsenal to bring out. The Magic is about as simple as a shavette gets. Plastic handle, light aluminum blade holder, nothing fancy but it gets the job done. I've used it a few times and thought now would be a good time to bring it out to match the theme and give it a comparison shave after the Parker and Luxor. From two stainless razors to a plastic/aluminum. A bit of a change. I chose the Perma-Sharp half blade and the Jeeves Bay Rum with Stirling badger brush. Fine and luxurious lather and it was fun to work with a badger again after so many synthetics.

If you can shave with any shavette you would probably love this one. It's simple. Plain Jane. Basic. Gets the job done. I did two passes and some touch up to get a very near BBS out of it. The alum was mostly quiet except for a spot or two around my goatee where I got a little too close to the corner on the blade. No blood though so a good finish. I'm thinking if I were to decide to switch to shavettes as my main or only style razor I could see myself with the Parker and Luxor in rotation and the Magic as my travel razor.

Well, my plan for tomorrow night is to finally get the new kamisori out with its brand new edge from Lynn on it and give it a shot. I'll be watching some stropping videos again just to work out some things in my mind but I'm ready to take the plunge for real. A kami really isn't a shavette, but it's the same principal so I'll claim it's on theme. Have a great weekend!

At one time in the "early years" we did Fatboy February. That works. Although recently, a @jtspartan responded, we've preferred February Favorites. It's similar in a way to Decadent December except we're not worried about going all out as much as just using stuff we have always liked. Always interesting to see what shows up.

Since I fell in with the Dark Side I have not purchased 1 DE and sold off a few of them. SR shaving is very addictive. Now that you have the stones you can the edge to just where you want it, customised for you.

These reports are great . I ordered a cheap shavette hoping it would be here for this month but i think its lost its way. If it arrives I'll give it a go and report back.

Off focus for the soap but continued on with the big American steel theme. Blood on Steel performs and smells great. This is a heavy razor, but I like them that way plus it has a nice smile.

It does shave very nice. I struggle to finely control light blades and the smile makes shaving my neck much easier. Plus it saves me a trip to the gym.

Top three reasonably priced soaps. Ok. Well, you'll get a lot of answers but here are my top 3. Mitchell's Wool Fat, Stirling, Tabac. Now, you can add Soap Commander as another contender. Jeeves works as well. As for the most reasonably priced that produces a super slick and easy lather? Arko.

Jibbles and bits of who knows what soap mashed into a deep dish, moistened to facilitate loading, whipped into a wet creamy lather, and gently wiped away with a fresh half blade. No errors to note. DFS on the easy areas with gradual improvements as I gain proficiency around my chin. I did notice the "stickiness" of the razor. Might try a sand paper progression to see if I can polish it up where the hollow grind shape is ridged. Been a bit since The Veg made an appearance. Still Chosen.
