Reasonably priced, slick, easy lather? Stirling is a no brainer for artisans under those parameters. Yes to your Jeeves suggestion as well, especially if you are lucky enough to have the old 7oz tubs. I'd add the Palmolive Classic stick to the list. Not just reasonably priced, ridiculously inexpensive actually. Especially for a quality lather that doesn't smell like a casino bathroom (sorry, Arko fans). Fine pucks are reasonably priced as well given the triple milled base, and are slick, but maybe not all that easy to get dialed in right away.
Beautiful razor. I guess you definitely travelled the farthest to pick up your Meetup soap in person, Keith! I took the lazy route and ordered one...
January 26th Razor: Supply Co 2dot Blade: Schick Proline Brush: Jayaruh 285 Pre-shave: Stirling Mentholated Soap: Stirling Eskimo Tuxedo Stirling mentholated witch hazel PAA Star Jelly unscented AS: Stirling Sharp Dressed Man Good morning, Went all in with the menthol this morning. It was especially cold. It's Saturday and the furnace isn't programmed to kick up until later. 64 degrees with glacial soap was pretty chilling. Good prep for the day ahead. Three passes to BBS. Light tickle from the alum on my neck. The Supply is a very smooth razor with the 2 dot plate. Have a great weekend! Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
I’ve tried lots and lots of soaps and, as many of you know, I had a thread on TSD where I reviewed 70 or 80 of them, so if you dig it up there is more info on shaving soaps than any normal person would want to read. Having said that, given the parameters asked, I’d go with: 1. Stirling 2. Stirling 3. Stirling It’s not my #1 soap, but for slick easy lather at a value price (and plenty of awesome scents too), like Jason said, it’s a no brainer.
SOTD January 26, 2019 Alphabetical journey through soaps and creams Letter S Prep: Cold water and Stirling mentholated pre-shave soap Blade: Schick Razor: Schick I1 Brush: Zenith B02 boar Soap: Soap Commander Influence Post: Witch hazel, Jeeves of Hudson Street Black Tea aftershave Back to letter S after the Fat Friday sojourn. Soap Commander continues with Influence. Wonderful, intoxicating scent with the cherry scent as the top note, but the depth of the tobacco and black tea to give it some weight. The Jeeves Black Tea isn't an exact match but it's a wonderful scent on its own - dark, smoky, with a strong tea element. Wonderful scents all around today. Easy shave with nice, comfortable results. I'm off to a local high school to help judge district All State Band tryouts this morning. Then back to try and do a little cleaning out and organizing. Alice is on a kick after watching some of the Tidying Up series on Netflix. We went through our clothes last weekend and worked up six bags worth of donations. It felt good. Plus it's helpful since we're planning to list our house again in March and make a move a little closer to my work. Anyway, no one reads this far. Have a great day!
Great photo, Perry! That scent sounds like something I would like. I did a purge of clothes that were too big on me awhile back. I read every post all the way through. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
