Hey all, just getting back in.

We did wind up going to the antique show at the York Fairgrounds here. What a bust. Stuff was priced ridiculously high. A revolutionary era musket - $28,000. A (beautiful) large carved and painted chest - $28,500. Scrimshaw on a Sperm Whale tooth - $1800.

Very few shaving related items - mostly furniture and china/silverware.

A straight in a box - $58. It had warped bakelite scales, and the blade wasn't all that either. Should've been $20-$25 tops. Maybe $30 because of the wooden box.

A couple of mugs, most priced outrageously high. One with a portrait - $675. A Limoges, FR occupational mug - $325.

No DEs or SEs at all. None. And that straight - that was the only straight there. No brushes at all.


Jason, thanks for the updates on your dad. I'm glad to hear it sounds like he's at least in good spirits...

my rotating 2 days off go to the family. you guys get me while I am working.

 

ahh...OK. So this is your first day back then? do you flip between days, nights, and mids? Our cops do 28 days on days, 28 on nights, rotating. The mids (12am-8am) are permanent.

 

we use to rotate shifts but that ended right before I got on the job. we bid yearly now for shifts. if you dont have enough seniority to bid they can put you on any watch. i am on afternoons with rotating days off and yes, today is my monday and it is hard to get excited about work on monday.

 

Haha...I hear ya bro. Actually, this Monday is my Monday. That only happens once every 8 weeks, the way our schedule rotates. At least I have tomorrow off...:

 

Ahh back home catching up on a few things around the house. Good thoughts for Rolls... anything else I missed?

Yeah, I don't know what I want to do with it...sell it, keep it, use it...

 

I Reckon I could find $5 for it if that included shipping... Again I vote to use it. I like my boar brush... good for a change.

I know I paid too much for it ($12), so I doubt I'll sell it because I don't want to take a loss...

If it wasn't still in the box, I probably would use it. But being "virgin" and still boxed....I don't know if I want to take away that "collector" aspect of it...

I'm gonna post it with pics in the brush forum...

 

That is just how I am..never buy anything that I will not use. Even back before we lost the farm and I bought guns a lot.. always shot whatever i bought.
