The more I shave with a straight, the more I realize that I am simply an apprentice Jedi with very rudimentary skills. Don’t get me wrong, I get a DFS or better with the straight now, but but I’m still learning to use “less pressure” and do a better job of skin stretching. A lot more practice is needed to approach routine BBS straight shaves. Along those lines, I do love big, hefty razors. They are easier for me to mow down whiskers with, for sure. Plus my W&B 15/16 could fell a tree in an emergency situation.
Love the Omega Charlie. The Fine Santal Absolut is a dead ringer for the Art of Shaving Sandalwood cream and balm. If you have an Art of Shaving store in a mall nearby, you can stop by and get an idea if you like the scent.
Thank you Charlie. The $150-$200 a month saved on smoking helps pay for my shaving and watch hobbies.
January 27, 2019 Supply SE V2 - 2 dot plate Schick Proline Simpson Duke 3 Synthetic Asylum Colonia Shave Soap & Aftershave A early morning shave with a early evening posts. My wife, Swati, and I were running late on leaving to visit my mom for the day. Luckily, all the hardware and software in the lineup helped to deliver a near effortless shave. The Duke 3 synthetic loaded and lathered the Colonia with ease. Three passes and touch ups ended just missing the baby with no irritation, nicks or weepers. I really can't ask for much more out of a rushed shave. The splash of the matching Colonia aftershave kept the theme going. My wife really commented positively on the scent which is a real plus. I told her the aftershave was a dupe of a cologne. Who knows, maybe I will end up getting the cologne or EdT for a future gift. I hope everyone has had a great Sunday.
You’re just taunting me with the brushes now, aren’t you Mark? Enabling would mean you could buy them. Unless you are on Twitter when they are randomly announced, you have no shot. Sadly, I am not. How about a PM for a non tweeter, guys! My bad, Joseph. Of this, I know absolutely nothing. Coincidentally there are many subjects where this is true. I leave them to the experts like @NCoxSTL. This group has long been in a vortex, Doug!
That's just like the Platinum being a dead ringer for Stoylin Xecutive Man(or so I've been reading here).
Traditionally you are supposed to shave with just one side but many use both. The asymmetric grinds and I do not get along. Now that looks like winter, stay warm Doug. What 12k stone did you buy? Do you have a lapping stone? It is important to make sure the stone is flat. Yup, I like them big with sharp edges.
Thanks Joseph. The model number is 3570.50.00, and it has the Omega cal. 1861 movement. I've had mine for about 7 years, and I really enjoy wearing it. Which movement does your Speedy have?
I have a Naniwa 12k Super Stone and yes, I have a lapping stone as well. A Norton 325 Diamond. I am watching the honing videos and taking notes.
