Thanks Clint. You need a Speedy to round out your rotation. ;)

Thanks. That's helpful, Clint. I had a tub of AOS Sandalwood and enjoyed the scent, so the Santal Absolut gets a :happy088:.

    321. I love my Speedmaster. It was my father's and fell into disrepair. I had it worked on, but kept everything original, except I found a new band.

This is my father, Martin when he was very young. He died in 1986 at the age of 57. Never saw his grandkids. I miss him.

That is what I have, it is a great stone. When you flatten it leave some slurry and then slow add water as you hone and it will dilute to water through the honing sesssion.

Now that is an emotional post, 57 is way too young.

    Monday Shave:

This weeks focus is Fine shaving soap and Jwest razors. First up is an Atlas, it is 6/8 and unusual near wedge grind. The edge is silky smooth and thought this would be an epic shave but it fell short in both irritaiton and closeness. Nonetheless a nice shave.

    Irritation A Closeness A Smoothness A+ Sharpness A

Razor: Atlas (Jwest) 5/8, 3/4 hollow
    Strop: Drygulch black latigo
    Brush: Thäter 2 band
    Pre: Proraso
    Soap: Fine
AS: Guerlain Derby AS, Speick ASB
    Scent: Guerlain Derby

Joseph, thank you for sharing the photo of your Dad and his Speedmaster. I can only imagine how special it must be to have your Father's watch. I'm sure you're reminded of him as you wear and enjoy that beauty everyday. One day, when you pass it on to one of your sons, they can carry on the family tradition. Watches like yours tell a wonderful story and can stay in families for generations.

I'm very sorry that you lost your Father at such a young age, Joseph. Both he and you were much too young. My Dad passed in 2001. He was 85 years old, and I was 39. I have good memories, but I still miss him every day.

Congrats on the newly acquired MMOC, Terry! Sorry about today's shave (we all have those days - I don't feel like a brush is really mine until I drop it :)), but you'll get another chance tomorrow. Take care of your shoulder. That's the most important thing.

Thank you Clint. Most of the time the grieving is long-since subsided, but then something innocuous comes up and...:(

Kentucky has changed a lot in the past few years, Chris. We've had to move our stills from the front yard to the back yard.

I understand. I lost my Dad 12 years ago. For the most part I am successful at staying positive and remembering the good times and things we did together. However there are those other days that I think of the loss. In the end, I was blessed to have a father like him and am truly thankful for our time together.

Paul, you did a great job restoring that old Boker. It looks to be in fine shape. I'm sorry the Palmolive didn't agree with you. I had one shave with Palmolive cream where I felt some irritation. I had no problems any other time I used it, and I could never pinpoint what changed. You might want to hang on to the shave stick and try it again during the summer. I'm wondering if the problem may be related to dry skin, low humidity, etc.
