interesting that all the tto s in canada were from england or the u.s. ,but canada had its own tech razors till the mid 50s..

Any info on the Brit 1967 "Sportsman Tech"? I've only seen one source over the years. I have a full metal verison. Thanks for the other great Tech info.

    It's discussed in detail here:
    https://theshaveden.com/forums/threads/sportsman-tech.59208/

I'm going to say that it's most likely a packaging varient, and there is nothing super special to differentiate it from other tech razors of the period, other than the packaging.

Well it's different in that fact that razor is brass not alum. Also the Gillette logo on the cap has a non-diamond marking - just "Gillette". I've only seen one other around. It weighs in at 61.8 grams. I purchased the razor seperate and picked up the case later.

I believe the advertised sportsman tech was aluminum handle .. per the discussion mentioned and the proof was in the photo provided by Mr. Razor. If the tech that was sold as a sportsman model was aluminum , then the all brass one is probably just a tech model or could be a different model. Lol but if you like calling it a Sportsman, have at it. I’m thinking of calling mine Duke.. but I don’t think yours or mine is a sportsman as it is all brass.

Well no harm no foul I guess. That's the way it was sold to me so I went with it. The truth is that's not why I bought it. I liked the all brass feature and non-diamond etching on the front cause it was different. I haven't been able to find any real info on it other than MrRazor and they show different design as you said. So I guess I have a very nice tech that is an orphan - so to speak.

I also own a brass handled "Sportsman", though since it's English I'll call it a "Fox Hunter". :chores016::rofl:

Only English Techs were ever called Sportsman. Not sure if that was ever mentioned in the other thread.

I thought the Brazilian aluminum ones sold on a card board bubble pack were billed as sportsman .
That's off the top of my head, not sure why i felt that way.

    Great thread.

There are some more obscure British Tech's out there, including these Aluminium and Perspex models that I used to own (and are pictured next to a standard Aluminium Tech of the same era).

Notice the barber pole design on the handles. I've never seen this replicated in any other Tech model.

Those clear baseplates are very cool looking, as is the spiral knurling. I've never heard of those techs before, though I was aware of that style of handle.:happy088:
