That is an A-1 excellent example of how to do a shave the "blue collar way". VDH boar brush, vintage Gillette razor, Clubman, Proraso - nothing especially fancy but it is a classy and awesome setup that produces nothing but excellent results. I love it.

Canadians aren't afraid of a little snow. I mean, less than 10 feet? Not even worth buying a shovel.

Thank you, although @ajc347 corrected a misunderstanding that I had. Apparently, both my English Flat Bottom Techs are somewhat unusual. My first one is unusual for having the groove in the safety bar which apparently doesn't usually show up on 4-piece razors while also having an unusual version of the two-piece handle. Meanwhile, the new acquisition has the long single slot which is uncommon but shared with an equally uncommon version of the Flat Bottom New.

I really do enjoy these unusual Techs. I'm constantly amazed at what Gillette was doing with the basic design outside of the US.

    January 28 - Blade Trial

    Razor - 1962 (H1) Gillette Slim (6)
    Blade - [IMG] (2)
    Soap - Arko
    Brush - Jayaruh #312
Post - Alum, The Mighty Veg

Second shave of the Lamix trial. Dialed the Slim up to 6, used the faux horse JR312 to get a good lather and thoroughly enjoyed the feel. How do they make a synthetic horse knot act and feel like the real thing so well?! With the added benefit of no knots getting tied in the middle of the brush!

Three full passes and the blade continues to be smooth. Again, this is a blade made for sale in the Brazilian market and it's performing better than I thought it would, just based on its destination. Not sure why I'd assume blades bound for Brazil would be bad, but nice to see I over thought that. I can't say it's the sharpest blade I've used. I compared it to a Derby yesterday and I think that comparison holds true on the second shave. The finish was near-BBS so no issues getting the shave done. Alum still quiet so it's not adding any irritation. All in all a fine performance.

I did some checking today on buying theses blades. Only one seller popped up on ebay and the price was $16.97/50. That makes the blades about 32-34 cents each. A bit pricey when compared to Russians and others but not completely crazy. Tomorrow I'll dial it up to 9 and give them a final run to see how they like the wide open gap spaces.

I posted some pictures of a rather unique Gillette travel razor earlier. I'm looking for information on that particular razor since I now own one. The pictures came from an auction site that Charlie @wristwatchb found and he tipped me off on that particular razor. That auction finished up a little before 9 pm here and I wound up on top after a bit of late action, with Charlie cheering me on and even doing some late minute enabling to keep me in bidding mode. I found an entry for it in Wait's - but only two pictures and proof it was part of a Sterling Silver travel set. Quite unique and from what I've found I'd date it to 1921-1928. The Sterling case is by William B. Kerr. Eager to give it some loving. The razor head stores inside the silver case and just attaches so that the case becomes the handle.

Speaking of giving razors some loving, Matthew the Haunted Gillette New SC is currently vacationing in North Carolina where he will be treated to a brand new shiny gold finish! He'll get some extra shave time when he returns from that adventure as well. Have a great Tuesday! I have to go back to Illinois tomorrow to finish up the recall on the van so I'll be in and out. I'm ready to get that thing done and on the road making money!

Not 100% certain but I believe one of the pharmacies here carries the splash. I enjoy the scent also, very mild and not overpowering.

The Damascus steel looks fantastic, Randy, Love all the folds. You’ll get it dialed in soon.
I’m a fan of the Fine soaps as well, Keith. I know the AS has lots of fans on here, but I have good luck with the soaps as well.
    Very nice bowl, Gary!
Love the props, Gary. Very cool stuff.
That travel razor is a beaut, Neal. Never seen one like it.
