I picked up this Case "The Real Blue Point" in Billing Mont. last week along with an old brush. I'd put this in the working man's razor class. Nothing fancy just a well made blade with no surprises. Zero hone wear. Tuned up and ready to go for tomorrows shave. I think I'll try to put a brush together in this style of handle with a mixed boar and badger knot or a banded boar. I need to sharpen my turning tools and get to work.
Edit- I washed old soap out of this brush for about ten minutes.

Thanks, I can't believe I got it for a great price. I have seen this model up on Ebay for more than twice the amount I paid. By the way, I was wrong about finding tarnish on it. Whatever it was came off with my thumb nail and it now looks great and is indeed in mint condition.

Great Find . Lovely blade in basically NOS shape . I bet she took a really keen edge with her tight grain US Steel .Your shave should be outstanding .Enjoy that piece of shaving history .

PS. The razor is indeed in mint condition. What I thought was tarnish turned out to be something else because I was able to scrape it off with my thumbnail. Again, I am very fortunate to get this razor at the price I paid for it. I neglected to mention it came with the original coffin, the protective sleeve and the paper instructions.

Everyone should have at least one of those.
    I love both of mine.
Did you have Jarrod hone it?

I didn't tell him not to, and per the website, it says that it'll come honed, so I guess he did. Looks to have been worked on. I haven't tried it yet. Might not be until Friday.

I believe he would have unless you requested him not to. He uses stones that are lapped to be convex. Great edges IMO.

Does anyone have any comments on going from this honing to a synthetic for a touch up?
    Maybe @thesuperiorshave

Well, I couldn't resist this 6/8 Boker and was able to "snipe" it for $.08 more than the top bidder. :happy036:

I just have to stop looking at the straight razor section on Ebay. I just won a bid on a vintage F W Engles special. It is a 5/8 square point and the approx. date is anywhere from 1890's to 1920's, so it can be at least 90 to 120 + yrs of age. The seller says it is shave ready. Bought it for 30 dollars. I will post a pic when I get it.

That seems like a good price.

I think so! I believe you can't go wrong spending 30 dollars on a shave ready vintage razor.
