First shave was almost a full BBS. I've gotten the same type of shave out of this razor before with the Bic Chrome blades I usually use. Now the question is how does the blade hold up for 2 more shaves on this edge before switching over to the other side. If it holds up then I go from rule to focus and using a different brand blade once this one is done.

Interesting that you shave on one edge then the other. Is this your SOP ? Do you find that you get greater consistency this way ?

I don't have a "down to the blade" accurate count of blades. I just know I have 1100+ Sharp Stars and will soon have 800+ Voskhod, along with over 100 Ladas and other assorted Russians. Then there are the odds and ends of all the others. I think - with luck - I'll make it until June without having to buy blades.

When I started out this was what I found worked best for me and it helps to keep track of the shaves like some people do with dice to know about when the blade is spent. I can go past 6 shaves but I've found after 3 passes on either side the blade's ability to slice just drops down significantly for me doesn't really matter the brand of blade.

It has been a long time since I've played around with changing up blades outside the trying the errant blade here and there. My technique, prep, etc may have changed enough that the type of blade may not matter as much anymore. Could also be the razor is more tolerant of different types of blades than others. I found the opposite true with mild razors, they don't work well with duller blades than sharper ones like Feathers.

This razor is mild but I don't know if it is that mild yet. If I change over to a focus I have just the blade that will prove that.
