Went to the family farm with Wilson and Alice after work on Friday. Spent the weekend there and then left from there to go to my parents' house for dinner tonight. Just now getting home. Intermittent signal out at the farm and it makes it difficult to post much, but I kept up with the thread as best as I could.

Used Speick cream for a shave on Saturday morning. That was the next software up in the S rotation. Tomorrow is Speick shave stick. Then Stirling begins on Tuesday.

Thinking about ordering a set of Stirling Gentleman as well as the Drive scent (leather and vetiver) from Soap Commander that comes out tomorrow. :signs002: Don't need soap but these are interesting to me and I plan to make some room in the den anyway. We'll see.

    Great shaves, everyone!

I gave up on Super Bowl hype after watching all of it before the Redskins-Raiders...38-9 Raiders.

    Day 30.

Did my now usual three passes with the Dovo, then cleaned up with the clog pruf.

It's been a while since I used the Mystic Water soap. Now I remember why. It's a complete PIA. Way too much work for lather that's just adequate. I've hung onto it only because I really like the scent. But this year I'm looking to reduce, and I think this one just volunteered. Time to move it along.

Other than that, it was a good shave.

Robert, I like Williams mug soap, but I suggest that you don't buy it because it is hard to get a decent lather with it.

On this good Sunday, there was a confrontation, and just like in Daniel 8, the Ram could not be saved from the GOAT. Spent this afternoon with the dogs and watched some football. I'm a Packers fan, so outcome did not matter to me. What I saw was two defensive lines dominating the game, and conservative play calling by both teams. But, I digress....

Today was a rare daylight shave. I'm usually an evening shower shaver. The Fatboy continued on blade day three, and it went very well. Should be an easy Monday on the prairie under warm and sunny skies. Other than that...all is quiet in Colorado.

    Have a great week!

No, I have no trouble with Williams. Like Mystic Water, it does take more work than others. Unlike Mystic Water, it's worth the effort. I understand that others have a different experience, on both counts.

My experience has been that Williams is greatly affected by the amount of dissolved mineral solids in the water supply. Hard water seems to kill it. The water where I live is literally some of the hardest in the US, I've actually looked it up. Williams is tough for me here, but I have used it as a shave stick and had it succeed.

I live in NY and the water is hard as well. It goes hand-in-hand with living here and dealing with my fellow NY residents.

I used Williams in Kentucky, the water there is as soft as a butterfly kiss. It lathered far more easily.

Thank you, Gentlemen. Arrived safely in colder-than-usual Vancouver. -3C now, but usually it is above freezing here on the coast.

Alphabetical journey through soaps and creams
    Letter S

Prep: Cold water and Stirling mentholated pre-shave soap
    Blade: vintage Personna Ultra Chrome
    Razor: Schick L5 'Revere'
    Brush: Surrey badger
    Soap: Speick shave stick
    Post: Witch hazel, Speick aftershave

Not the best lather. A little thin but I think I didn't rub enough of the soap in my beard before face lathering. First use of this Speick shave stick and the cream seems to be a better product. Again, only the first use so I shouldn't judge too much. This was a good shave but the lackluster lather left a lot to be desired.

Moving on Stirling tomorrow, so lackluster lather shouldn't be a problem.

    Have a great day!
